Permanent Christmas lights stay on your roofline all year in a low-profile track. In December they run Christmas scenes, and the rest of the year they give you warm white accent light, security light or game-day color from your phone. This guide covers how it works in Pinellas County: permits, HOAs, beach rules, timing, and which city page fits your home.

What permanent Christmas lights are, and what they aren’t
A permanent system is a run of individually controlled LED lights inside a slim track mounted under the eave or along the fascia. By day it reads as trim. At night you choose the scene: solid warm white, a red and green Christmas chase, a blue and white Hanukkah pattern, Fourth of July, or bright white security light over the driveway. Nothing goes up or comes down each season.
It isn’t a string of clip-on holiday lights, and it isn’t landscape lighting. We install JellyFish Lighting as an Authorized Dealer. We don’t sell kits, and we don’t publish do-it-yourself steps, because the power side of the job belongs to a licensed electrician.
Permits in Pinellas County
The light track itself is attached to your trim. Permits come into play when the controller needs a new outlet or a dedicated circuit. In that case we pull the electrical permit and handle the inspection with whoever has jurisdiction. In unincorporated areas (Palm Harbor, East Lake, Tierra Verde, Ridgecrest and others) that is Pinellas County Building & Development Review Services. In a city, it is that city’s building department, for example St. Petersburg, Largo or Seminole. Each city page below links its own office.
You can confirm our license on the state’s DBPR license search (EC13014717), and look up your parcel and whether it is incorporated on the Pinellas County Property Appraiser site.
HOAs, condo boards and historic districts
Many Pinellas neighborhoods have an HOA, and most condo associations control the building exterior. Before you sign, check your association’s architectural rules. We can provide a product sheet and a simple layout for your application. In St. Petersburg historic districts like Old Northeast, we keep the track tight to the trim.
Beach homes and sea turtle season
Gulf beaches from Clearwater Beach to Pass-a-Grille are sea turtle nesting beaches (in Clearwater, CDC §3-1302.D). From May 1 to October 31, lights visible from the beach need to stay off or be turtle-friendly under local ordinances and FWC guidance. Permanent lights make this easy: we split the home into zones and program the Gulf-facing runs to stay dark in season. Christmas falls well outside nesting season, so the whole house can go festive in December.

Timing: install dates booking now
Here’s how the steps usually go: a free estimate at the home, a written proposal, an install date, then a walkthrough of the app with you. Most single-story homes take one day, and larger or two-story homes can take longer. Local holiday dates to plan around: Holiday Lights at Largo Central Park from Nov 26, with the Tree Lighting & Stroll on Dec 5; the Clearwater Yacht Club lighted boat parade around Island Estates on Dec 12; and the Pinellas Park Christmas Parade on Park Blvd on Dec 12. Calendars fill through November, so booking in October or early November gives you the most room before the holidays.
