Short answer

The light track mounts to your trim and plugs into an outlet. You usually need an electrical permit only if the job adds an outlet or circuit, and you often need HOA or condo approval before any exterior change. We pull the permits ourselves and give you what your board asks for.

Who issues the permit

It depends on whether your parcel is in a city or in unincorporated Pinellas. Unincorporated areas like Palm Harbor, East Lake, Tierra Verde and Ridgecrest go through Pinellas County building permits. Cities run their own offices, for example St. Petersburg, Largo, Seminole and Madeira Beach. Not sure which one you’re in? Look up your parcel on the Pinellas County Property Appraiser site.

What HOA and condo boards usually ask for

Rules vary by association, so check yours before you sign. We can send a product sheet and a simple layout for your application.

Beach homes and turtle season

Gulf-front homes follow sea turtle lighting rules from May 1 to October 31 (FWC guidance, plus each beach city’s ordinance). We program beach-facing zones to stay dark during nesting season. Christmas falls outside it.
