My 1920s house still has some knob-and-tube wiring. Do I have to replace all of it? Not always at once, but knob-and-tube has no ground, wasn’t designed for modern loads, and many insurers won’t write policies on homes with active knob-and-tube. We’ll inspect it and give you a phased plan if a full rewire isn’t in the budget.
My panel got wet in the storm surge. Can I just turn it back on? No. Equipment that’s been submerged, especially in saltwater, needs to be evaluated by an electrician and is usually replaced. Your utility may also require an inspection before restoring power.
Who issues electrical permits in St. Pete? The City of St. Petersburg for addresses inside city limits. Unincorporated areas with St. Pete mailing addresses go through Pinellas County.
