Clearwater Beach homes see more salt, more wind and stricter beach lighting rules than almost anywhere in Pinellas, so permanent Christmas lights here need a plan. We set up beach-facing zones that stay dark during sea turtle season and street-facing zones that go full holiday color in December.
Keywest Lights & Electric is an Authorized Dealer and installer of JellyFish Lighting and an independent licensed electrical contractor (EC13014717), based in Seminole. We are not JellyFish Lighting, the company. We start with a free estimate and a written proposal, then schedule the install. Install dates are booking now.

Turtle season on Clearwater Beach
Clearwater Beach is a sea turtle nesting beach, and the city’s code (CDC Art. 3, Div. 13, §3-1302.D) covers beachfront lighting. From May 1 to October 31, lights that can be seen from the beach have to stay off or be shielded and turtle-friendly. With JellyFish, that is a schedule, not a ladder. We program the Gulf-facing runs to stay dark through nesting season and let the street side keep its everyday warm white.

Salt air and wind on the barrier island
The Clearwater Yacht Club Holiday Lighted Boat Parade runs Saturday, Dec 12 at 6 PM. It starts north of the Mandalay Channel Bridge and loops around Island Estates, so waterfront rooflines get a big audience. Beach homes also take direct salt spray. We pick mounting points that keep fasteners out of standing water, keep connections inside the track and recommend a quick look at the system once a year. If you’re in a condo or HOA, check its rules first; we can send the product sheet and a layout for your application.

Permits and HOA rules in Clearwater Beach
The lights themselves mount to your trim and plug into an outlet. If your home needs a new outlet or circuit, we pull the permit and handle the inspection. If you’re in an HOA or condo association, check its architectural rules first; we can send the product sheet and a simple layout for your application. Parcel and HOA info is on the Pinellas County Property Appraiser site. Gulf-facing homes follow sea turtle lighting rules May 1 to October 31 (FWC guidance), so we set beach-facing zones to stay off during nesting season.
Questions we hear in Clearwater Beach
Can I have Christmas lights on a Gulf-front home in Clearwater Beach? Yes, in December. Turtle nesting season runs May 1 to October 31. Outside that window you can run holiday scenes, and we still program beach-facing runs to follow the city’s lighting rules.
Do condo associations on Clearwater Beach allow permanent lights? Check your association’s rules first. We can provide the product details and a simple layout for the board.
Is Clearwater Beach covered by your Clearwater page? Our Clearwater page covers the mainland and Island Estates. This page is for homes on the beach itself, because the turtle rules, salt exposure and condo approvals are different here.
Who does the outlet work? A licensed electrician from Keywest Lights & Electric (EC13014717). If an outlet or circuit has to be added, we pull the permit and handle the inspection.
