JellyFish Lighting in Dunedin, FL (Downtown & Causeway Homes)

Permanent Christmas lights in Dunedin, installed before the downtown holiday parade. Dunedin does Christmas downtown: a parade up Douglas Avenue, then carriage rides and music in Pioneer Park. Your house or storefront can join in every year without anyone climbing a ladder. A JellyFish system stays on the roofline and runs from an app, with Christmas in December, warm white in March and team colors whenever you like.

Parade day downtown: Saturday, December 12, 2026

The city lists its 2026 Holiday Parade & Old Fashioned Christmas for Saturday, December 12, starting at 3:30 p.m. The parade heads north on Douglas Avenue from Beltrees Street to Skinner Boulevard. After that come horse-drawn carriages, a snow slide and ice skating along Main Street and Broadway, and live music in Pioneer Park. Homes on the streets around downtown and the shops on the route are what people see that evening. If you want your lights on for it, book now so the install isn’t competing with the December rush.

For Main Street shops, breweries and restaurants

Dunedin’s commercial strip runs along Main Street (SR 580), Douglas Avenue, Broadway and Edgewater Drive. A business system usually does three jobs:

  • Every evening: a steady outline in brand colors that makes the building easy to find after dark
  • Holiday season: Christmas scenes from the weekend after Thanksgiving through New Year’s
  • Event nights: saved patterns for downtown festivals and game days

One controller can run several zones on the same building, with schedules that turn the lights off after closing. We check the city’s sign rules before setting up anything that animates on the facade.

Dunedin homes: ranches, bungalows, condos and landmarks

Dunedin’s median home dates to the mid-1970s, and its housing is mixed: a bit under half are detached single-family homes, about one in six are in buildings with 20 or more units, and manufactured homes make up a real share too. We size each job to the roofline. A 1970s ranch usually needs one continuous run across the front. A bungalow near downtown might only need the front gable and porch. For condos, we write the proposal for the association.

Dunedin has 31 local historic landmarks and four National Register listings. If your home is a designated landmark, exterior changes can need city design review, so we flag it at the estimate and keep the channel tucked against the existing trim.

Causeway and St. Joseph Sound homes

Waterfront streets near the Dunedin Causeway, which runs out to Honeymoon Island State Park, get more salt and more storm wear than inland blocks. We check the fascia before mounting, fasten into framing for Pinellas wind loads, and keep the controller and power supply indoors. Dunedin is on FWC’s list of sea turtle lighting ordinances, so if the lights could be seen from a beach, we set the scenes to stay off from May 1 through October 31. With the season ending October 31, full Christmas color is ready for this December.

From walk-around to first lit night

  1. Estimate visit: we measure, check the attic or garage for a controller spot, and note any HOA, condo or landmark reviews
  2. Proposal: a written scope with the runs and any electrical work spelled out
  3. Install: track and lights go up, the controller goes in, and your scenes get saved
  4. Permit: if we add an outlet or circuit, we pull the permit and handle the inspection

Parts carry JellyFish Lighting’s 5-year warranty on the lights, controllers and power supplies. Our workmanship warranty is 2 years, or 5 years on a Member Care Plan, which also takes 7% off labor and materials. We’re a Home Depot preferred contractor and answer electrical emergencies 24/7.

Dunedin JellyFish Lighting questions

Can my lights be on for Dunedin’s holiday parade? Yes. The city lists its Holiday Parade and Old Fashioned Christmas for Saturday, December 12, 2026, starting at 3:30 p.m. on Douglas Avenue. Event dates can change, so check the city’s page. Once your lights are installed, you can schedule a Christmas scene to start at dusk that day.

Do Dunedin’s sea turtle rules affect my lights? Dunedin is on FWC’s list of cities with a sea turtle lighting ordinance. Most homes face St. Joseph Sound or sit inland rather than on a nesting beach. If your lights could be seen from a beach, we keep the decorative scenes off from May 1 through October 31. Christmas color is fine after that.

My Dunedin house is a designated historic landmark. Is that a problem? Not usually, but changes to a designated landmark can need city design review. We mark it on the estimate, keep the track tight to the existing trim, and give you photos and product details for the review.

Can a Main Street restaurant or brewery use JellyFish lights? Yes. Most downtown businesses want a clean outline in their own colors every evening and a holiday scene in December. We confirm the city’s sign rules before programming anything that flashes or changes color on the facade.

I live in a Dunedin condo. Can I get permanent lights? It depends on your association, because the roofline is common property. We can prepare a proposal for the board covering the whole building or a section of it.

Who handles the electrical side? We do. We’re the licensed electrical contractor, so if the controller needs a new outlet or circuit, we pull the permit and handle the inspection.
