The everyday electrical work that keeps your home safe and lets you plug in what you need.
GFCI protection
Ground-fault circuit interrupters cut power in a fraction of a second if current leaks to ground, which is what protects you from shock near water. Code requires GFCI protection in bathrooms, kitchens, garages, outdoors, laundry areas and near pools. In older homes we commonly add GFCI protection where it’s missing and replace worn or salt-damaged outdoor GFCIs.
AFCI protection
Arc-fault circuit interrupters detect dangerous arcing in wiring, a common cause of electrical fires. They’re required for most living-area circuits in new work, and they’re a smart upgrade when you replace a panel or rewire. Panel upgrades →
Outlets
- New outlets where you need them, plus USB and USB-C outlets
- Three-prong upgrades done correctly (a true ground or GFCI protection, labeled as code allows)
- Tamper-resistant and weather-resistant outlets
- Loose, warm or scorched outlets replaced, with the cause found
Dedicated circuits
- Kitchen appliances, microwaves, refrigerators and freezers
- Mini-split and window AC units, water heaters
- Pool pumps, spas and heaters
- Workshops, garages and home offices
- EV chargers
FAQ
My GFCI keeps tripping. Is it bad? Sometimes the device is worn out, especially outdoors near salt air. Often it’s tripping because something downstream really is leaking current. We’ll find out which.
Do I need a permit to add a circuit? Yes. New circuits need an electrical permit. Note that Florida’s 2026 permit exemption for small single-family projects does not cover electrical work, as Holmes Beach and Hillsborough County both point out.
Can you add an outlet for a new freezer in the garage? Yes. Garage outlets need GFCI protection, and a dedicated circuit is the best choice for a freezer.
What’s the difference between GFCI and AFCI? GFCI protects people from shock. AFCI protects the house from wiring fires. Dual-function breakers do both.
