24/7 Emergency Electrician in Tierra Verde, FL

On Tierra Verde, an electrical emergency often starts at the water: a boat lift that stopped halfway with the boat in the slings, a dock box sparking in the spray, or a seawall light circuit that trips the panel every time the tide comes up. Inside, it’s the same as anywhere else: a hot panel, a burning smell or lights that surge and dim. Call (727) 476-7079 any hour. We’re about 13 miles away in Seminole by way of the Pinellas Bayway, and we’ll give you an honest arrival estimate, not a promised window. Licensed (EC#13014717).

Call (727) 476-7079 now. Emergency calls are answered 24/7.

Electrician checking the breakers inside an open electrical panel
Tracing a fault inside an open panel, the first step on most emergency calls.

First, stay safe. If there’s smoke, fire or someone has been shocked, call 911. Never touch a dock, lift or ladder you think may be energized, and don’t swim near a dock with power on it. If you can reach the breaker from a dry spot, turn off the dock or lift circuit, or the main. Then call us.

Dock and boat-lift emergencies

Most of Tierra Verde’s waterfront lots have a dock, a lift or both, and those circuits live in salt spray. Call right away if:

  • A lift motor hums but won’t move, or trips its breaker partway through a cycle
  • A dock box, receptacle or light sparks, or you feel a tingle on a rail or ladder
  • A dock GFCI won’t reset. Don’t bypass it. It’s often catching a real fault in a wet cable or corroded box.
  • A seawall or landscape lighting circuit trips the panel whenever it rains or the tide is high

We isolate the fault, make the circuit safe and tell you whether the repair can be done that visit. Rebuilding a corroded dock subpanel or feeder usually becomes a scheduled job, and we quote it with a Tierra Verde panel upgrade when the main panel is part of the problem.

Inside the house

Tierra Verde has about 4,100 residents, and the median home was built in 1989 (Census ACS 2020–2024). Call us right away for:

  • A hot, buzzing or burnt-smelling panel, often a late-’80s panel overloaded after a lift, pool equipment, a second AC and a generator hookup were added over the years
  • Lights that flare and dim, or appliances acting oddly, which can mean a failing neutral on the service
  • Outlets or switches that are scorched, warm or sparking
  • Water near the panel or meter after a storm, surge or plumbing leak

In condo and townhome communities, the building’s meter bank and feeders usually belong to the HOA. Tell us where you live and we’ll help you figure out whose equipment is failing.

After a storm or surge

Helene’s surge in September 2024 put water into many Tierra Verde garages and ground floors. If it happens again:

  • Wait for the county to reopen access to the island before trying to return. We follow the same rules.
  • Leave anything that was underwater off, including panels, breakers, dock boxes, pool controls and appliances. Saltwater keeps corroding after it dries.
  • Duke Energy owns the service drop and the meter. We handle the meter can, mast, panel and everything after it. After major storms, Duke often won’t reconnect until the customer side has been inspected.
  • Permits: Tierra Verde is unincorporated, so storm repairs that need permits go through Pinellas County Building & Development Review Services, 440 Court St., Clearwater. We file them and meet the inspector.
  • Generators: use extension cords, or a properly installed inlet and listed interlock. Never backfeed. For permanent backup, see generator installation. Panel-mounted whole-house surge protection protects lift motors and pool controls from utility spikes.

How a call works

A real person answers and asks what’s happening: house, condo or dock, and whether anyone is at risk. We help you make it safe, give you an honest arrival estimate and tell you our after-hours rate before we dispatch. On site, we find the cause, make it safe and fix what we can that visit. Larger repairs get an itemized quote. Hours: emergency calls 24/7; office 7 AM–5 PM, plus weekend service.

When it can wait

One dead outlet, a dock light that’s simply burned out, or a GFCI that resets and holds can usually wait for a normal-rate visit. Book online or see outlet repair.

Warranty and financing

Repairs carry a 3-year workmanship warranty, or 5 years for Member Care Plan members. For larger repairs: Financing available through Acorn Finance, subject to credit approval. Check your options without affecting your credit score.

Tierra Verde emergency FAQ

My boat is stuck halfway up the lift. Can you come at night? Yes. Call and tell us what the lift is doing. If anything is sparking or the dock may be energized, keep everyone away from the water and turn off the lift breaker if you can do it safely.

The dock GFCI keeps tripping. Can I replace it with a regular outlet? No. A tripping dock GFCI usually means there’s a real fault somewhere, and bypassing it is dangerous near water. We’ll find the fault.

How long will it take you to get to Tierra Verde? We’re about 13 miles away by the Bayway. Timing depends on the hour, traffic and how many calls are ahead of yours. You’ll get an honest estimate when you call.

Who issues permits for storm repairs on the island? Pinellas County, since Tierra Verde is unincorporated. We file the permit and meet the inspector.

Is the outage Duke’s problem or mine? If your neighbors are dark too, report it to Duke. If only your home or dock is out, call us.

Do you charge extra after hours? Yes. We tell you the after-hours rate before we dispatch.
