If there’s fire, smoke or a shock injury, call 911 first. Then, if you can reach it without standing in water, switch off the main breaker. Stay well back from any line on the ground. Lines that look dead may not be.

Oaks, storms and service drops

Bardmoor’s established streets have something newer subdivisions don’t: big, mature trees. They’re beautiful until a summer squall or tropical storm drops a limb across the overhead service. Watch for:

  • A service drop pulled down or sagging low across the yard or driveway
  • A mast bent or torn off the roof, or a meter can pulled off the wall
  • Lights that brighten and dim, or half the house dead after wind, which often means a damaged neutral at the weatherhead or meter

Whose part is it? Duke Energy owns the drop and the meter. The mast, weatherhead, meter can and panel are the homeowner’s. We repair your side, file the permit with Pinellas County and coordinate with Duke to reconnect. If the whole street is dark, report it to Duke through the app or at duke-energy.com.

Inside 1970s homes

About 10,300 people live in Bardmoor, and the median home was built in 1976 (Census ACS 2020–2024). Many houses off Bryan Dairy Road, Starkey Road and Park Boulevard still have original equipment, and the night calls we get from them usually involve:

  • Federal Pacific or Zinsco panels with breakers that buzz, run hot or won’t trip
  • Panels at their limit after a pool, a room addition, a second AC and a kitchen remodel
  • Aluminum-era or worn outlets that scorch when a plug loosens
  • A breaker that trips the instant you reset it, which means there’s a fault. Stop resetting it.

Once it’s safe, we’ll tell you whether a Bardmoor panel upgrade makes sense, then quote it during the day, without pressure.

Pools and lanais

Most Bardmoor pools sit behind screened lanais, with pumps, heaters and lights on outdoor circuits. If anyone feels a tingle in the water or on a rail, get everyone out and keep them out. Then turn off the pool breakers and call. Other urgent signs include a pump breaker that trips every time, or a pool-light GFCI that won’t reset.

Villas and townhomes

In villa and townhome communities, your unit’s panel and wiring are usually yours, while meter banks, feeders and common lighting often belong to the HOA. Call us either way. We’ll figure out where the fault is, fix what’s yours and coordinate with your manager on the rest.

After lightning

A nearby strike can take out an AC control board, pool controller, garage-door opener and TVs all at once. We trace the damage, replace failed devices and can add panel-mounted whole-house surge protection. If you run a portable generator during an outage, use cords or a listed inlet and interlock, and never backfeed through a dryer outlet. See generator installation.

Shops along the corridors

For shops, offices and restaurants on Park Boulevard, Starkey and Bryan Dairy, we handle tripped feeders, hot panels, dead kitchen circuits and dark parking lots. We make it safe, get you open if we can and quote bigger work separately. See commercial service.

How the visit works

We find the cause, make it safe and fix what can be fixed that visit. Bardmoor is unincorporated, so permits go to Pinellas County. Some addresses near the edges are actually inside Seminole or Largo, and we check that before filing. Panel, service and rewiring jobs get an itemized quote. Hours: emergency calls 24/7; office 7 AM–5 PM, plus weekend service.

Not urgent?

A single dead outlet or an occasional flicker can usually wait for a regular-rate visit. See outlet repair or book online.

Warranty and financing

Our work carries a 3-year workmanship warranty, or 5 years for Member Care Plan members. For larger repairs: Financing available through Acorn Finance, subject to credit approval. Check your options without affecting your credit score.
