It’s Saturday night at John’s Pass and half the kitchen line just went dark. A guest at your Gulf Boulevard rental texts that the unit smells like something’s burning. Your boat is hanging in the lift and the dock GFCI won’t hold. Madeira Beach emergencies don’t stick to office hours, and neither do we. Call (727) 476-7079 any time. Our Seminole shop is about 3 miles away across the Tom Stuart Causeway, and you’ll get an honest arrival estimate, not a promise we can’t keep. Licensed electrical contractor EC#13014717.
Call (727) 476-7079. Emergency calls are answered 24/7.

Fire, smoke or a shock injury? Call 911. If you can reach the main breaker from a dry spot, turn it off. Keep people away from wet outlets, dock boxes and pool equipment until we arrive.
Restaurants, bars and shops at John’s Pass
Back-of-house panels near the Pass take salt air, grease and heat, often all at once. Typical late calls:
- Kitchen circuits dead in the middle of service: fryers, coolers or the hood
- A panel or breaker that’s hot to the touch in a cramped back room
- Dining room, deck or sign lighting out at peak hours
- Walk-in cooler or ice machine with no power
We find the fault, make it safe and get you back open where we safely can. Permanent repairs are scheduled for after close. See commercial electrical service.
Short-term rentals and condos
A rental with no power usually means a refund. When a guest reports a dark unit, sparks or a hot smell, call us. We’ll coordinate entry with you or your manager. In condo buildings, the wiring inside a unit generally belongs to the owner, while meter banks, feeders and electrical rooms belong to the association. We’ll find which side the problem is on and work with the manager if it’s shared.
Homes on the bay side
About 4,000 people live in Madeira Beach, and the median home was built in 1974 (Census ACS 2020–2024). On the canal streets, we see:
- Breakers and bus bars still corroding from Helene or Milton saltwater. Equipment that was put back in service can fail months later.
- Rusted exterior panels and meter cans, on both the Gulf and bay sides
- Lights flaring and dimming, which can mean a lost neutral at the meter
- Pool or spa circuits that trip or shock. Get everyone out of the water first.
Once the emergency is under control, we’ll tell you plainly whether a Madeira Beach panel upgrade should be on your list.
Docks and lifts
A lift that won’t run on a calm morning can wait. A dock box that sparks, a lift motor that trips the breaker on every cycle, or a GFCI that won’t reset with the boat in the slings can’t. We isolate the fault, make it safe and schedule rebuilds of corroded dock feeders or subpanels.
When a storm is coming
- Get your Barrier Island Re-Entry Permit from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office before the season. After an evacuation, you’ll need it to get back on the island.
- Access is decided storm by storm. We can’t go in before officials open the island, but we’ll take your call and put you on the schedule.
- Saltwater-flooded equipment stays off. Duke Energy won’t reconnect a flooded home until a licensed electrician has made repairs and the city has inspected.
- Permits go through the City of Madeira Beach Building Department, City Hall, 300 Municipal Drive. We file them and meet the inspector. Substantially damaged homes may need equipment raised to meet flood-elevation rules.
- Generators: use cords or a listed inlet and interlock. Never backfeed a dryer outlet. See generator installation, and add whole-house surge protection for when the power comes back.
Neighbors out too? Then it’s probably Duke. Report it in the Duke Energy app or at duke-energy.com.
The call itself

Not urgent?
One dead outlet or a burned-out dock light can wait for a regular-rate visit. Book online.
