Bardmoor is our closest neighbor. It sits about 3 miles from our shop at 6248 Seminole Blvd, between Seminole and Pinellas Park, and it grew up around golf. Oliver Bardes began developing the land in the late 1960s, and Bardmoor Golf & Tennis Club opened in 1971. That history explains most of what we find on a charger job here: 1970s golf-course homes, villas and condominiums with shared walls and association rules, and panels that have been carrying the same house for fifty years. Your mailing address says Largo or Seminole. Your permit doesn’t.
Bardmoor is an unincorporated Census-designated place, so most addresses here carry a Largo or Seminole mailing address. Neither city issues the permit. EV circuits in Bardmoor are permitted by Pinellas County Building & Development Review Services through the county’s Access Portal, and a county inspector does the final. We file it, attach the load calculation, and meet the inspector. If you’re unsure whether your street is inside Largo or Seminole city limits, we check the parcel record first.
Three kinds of Bardmoor homes, three kinds of charger jobs
Golf-course and lakefront single-family homes. Many date from the 1970s (the area’s median year built is 1976, per Census ACS 2020–2024). The garage is often at the front with the panel inside it or on an outside wall. Original panels from that decade deserve a careful look before anyone adds a 40- or 48-amp continuous load.
Villas and paired homes. Shared walls and association-maintained exteriors mean the charger location may need sign-off, and the meter can sit on a bank serving several units. We confirm who owns which wall before we drill.
Condominiums. Communities such as Chateaux de Bardmoor, one of the area’s late-1960s originals, fall under Florida’s condo statute. Section 718.113(8) lets an owner install a charger in a limited common element or assigned parking space. The association can require separate metering billed to the owner, a licensed contractor, insurance naming the association, and reasonable standards for placement.
When the panel says no
About half the work on a Bardmoor charger visit is deciding what the existing electrical system can safely do. Our load calculation counts the AC, range, dryer, water heater and pool equipment you actually have. From there:
- Room to spare: we install a dedicated circuit sized to your charger.
- Tight but workable: we set the charger to a lower output, or use a unit with built-in load management. Bardmoor drives (Starkey Road, Bryan Dairy Road, Park Boulevard) are short, so a modest rate still fills the car overnight.

Duke Energy Florida and your charging schedule
Bardmoor is served by Duke Energy Florida. If you’ll charge overnight, look at Duke’s options before install day: the residential time-of-use rate, or the Off-Peak Charging Credit for Level 2 owners (one or the other, not both). There’s also a one-time EV Charger Prep Credit toward qualifying make-ready work. Duke sets the terms, so check its site. We program the charger’s schedule to match.
Golf carts, second cars and the garage wall
In a golf community, the EV often shares the garage with a golf cart, a second car, a freezer and a workbench. Plan the wall space with us. We mount the charger where the cable reaches the port without crossing the cart’s path, and keep the circuit separate from the cart charger’s outlet. Two EVs? A pair of power-sharing chargers on one circuit usually beats a second big breaker.
Protecting the new equipment
A Level 2 charger is a computer on a 240-volt circuit. Summer lightning is common in Pinellas, so we’ll offer a whole-house surge protector at the panel. If you’ve been meaning to add a generator inlet or standby generator, we’ll plan the panel space for both.

Send photos of the panel, meter and parking spot. We come out for the load calculation and give you an itemized quote after the site visit. Then we pull the county permit, install, pass inspection, and set up the charger app with you. A garage install near the panel usually takes a few hours. Bardmoor EV charger FAQ
Is Bardmoor part of Largo or Seminole for permits? Neither. Bardmoor is unincorporated, so the EV charger permit comes from Pinellas County, even if your mail says Largo or Seminole. We file it for you.
I live in a Bardmoor villa. Who approves an exterior charger? Usually your association, because it often controls the exterior walls. We give the board the charger spec sheet and a mounting sketch, and we don’t drill until it’s approved.
Our 1970s panel looks original. Can it handle a charger? Sometimes, at a reduced charging rate. The load calculation and an inspection of the panel’s condition decide it. If it needs replacing, we quote that separately.
Can one circuit charge two cars? Yes. Many chargers can share one circuit and split the power between two cars, which avoids a second large breaker.
How much will it cost? It depends on the panel, the run, the charger and any association steps. You’ll get an itemized quote after a site visit.
