A Largo fan or lighting job usually begins with a question about the ceiling box, not the fan. Most of the city’s houses went up between the 1960s and early ’80s, and the box over the bedroom or dining room was put there for a light fixture, not a spinning fan. We check the box, the switch wiring and the circuit before anything goes up. Then we hang your fan or fixture level and balanced. We’re about 5 miles away on Seminole Boulevard, licensed (EC#13014717) since 2010, and you get the price before we start.

Room by room in a 1970s Largo house
Largo has about 82,600 residents, and its median home was built in 1978 (Census ACS 2020–2024). Here’s what we usually find, room by room:
- Bedrooms: a single ceiling light on a light-duty box. Converting to a fan means installing a fan-rated box or brace first. If you want the fan and light on separate switches, we may need to add a conductor, or we can use a wall control or remote.
- Living and family rooms: fans that wobble because they hang from the wrong box or were never balanced. We re-mount, tighten and balance them, or replace the box.
- Kitchens: old fluorescent light boxes, replaced with LED fixtures or recessed lights. See lighting installation.
- Dining rooms: chandeliers or pendants hung at the right height over the table and supported for their weight
- Bathrooms: vanity lights for a remodel, plus fans or lights rated for damp locations
Some homes built from the mid-’60s to early ’70s have aluminum branch wiring. When we find it at a box, we use approved connectors and repair methods, not ordinary wire nuts.
Outside: lanais, porches and pool cages
Covered lanais and screened porches get used year-round here, and indoor fans don’t last outdoors. They rust and start wobbling within a season or two. – Damp-rated fans go under a roof or screen enclosure. – Wet-rated fans go anywhere rain can hit them directly, including many pool cages. – Weatherproof boxes and switches, with GFCI protection where code requires it – Porch, coach, garage and flood lights, with motion sensors or photocells if you want them

Smoke and CO alarms
Plenty of older Largo homes still have original battery-only smoke detectors, or a mix of old and new. We install hardwired, interconnected smoke alarms, so when one sounds they all sound, and combination smoke/CO alarms for homes with gas appliances or an attached garage. Replace smoke alarms about every ten years.
Rentals, villas and manufactured homes
Almost four in ten Largo homes are rented. Landlords call us between tenants to swap fans, fixtures and smoke alarms, and we send photos when the work is done. A Member Care Plan covering several properties includes 7% off labor. In villas and condos, fixtures inside your unit are usually yours, but your association may have rules about exterior lights or work hours. Manufactured homes have their own ceiling and box-support requirements, so tell us when you book.
Your fixture, our install
You can buy your own fan or fixture. We’ll install anything listed by UL or another recognized testing lab. For a heavy chandelier or large fan, we’ll confirm the ceiling and box can carry it before it goes up. We match dimmers and smart switches to LED loads so lights don’t flicker or buzz.
Permits
Replacing a fan or fixture in the same spot usually doesn’t need a permit. New circuits, or new locations that extend wiring, usually do. Inside city limits, permits come from the City of Largo Building Services division, 201 Highland Ave. Unincorporated Largo-area addresses go through Pinellas County. We pull the right one.
Booking a visit
Send photos of the ceiling and the fixture if you can. Bundle several fans, a fixture and a dead outlet into one visit. You’ll get the price before we start. We test every speed, light and switch, then clean up after ourselves.
Warranty and financing
3-year workmanship warranty, or 5 years for Member Care Plan members. For a whole-house lighting update or remodel: Financing available through Acorn Finance, subject to credit approval. Check your options without affecting your credit score.

Largo ceiling fan & light fixture FAQ
Can you put a ceiling fan where my bedroom light is now? Usually. We replace the light-duty box with a fan-rated box or brace, then hang and balance the fan.
My fan wobbles. Do I need a new one? Not always. Most wobble comes from a loose mount, the wrong box or blades out of balance. We’ll check it before recommending a replacement.
What kind of fan should go on a screened lanai? At least damp-rated. If rain can reach it directly, use a wet-rated fan.
Do I need a permit to replace a light fixture? Not for a same-spot replacement. New circuits or new locations usually do, through the City of Largo or Pinellas County.
Can you install a fan I bought myself? Yes, as long as it’s listed by a recognized testing lab.
Do you replace smoke detectors in rentals? Yes, including hardwired interconnected alarms, and we send photos for your records.
