Scheduled panel and breaker box replacement for Lakewood Ranch homes and light-commercial spaces across one of the largest master-planned communities in the country: 2000s–2020s single-family homes in Lakewood Ranch Country Club, Greenbrook, Summerfield, The Masters, Country Club East and Lake Club, townhomes and villas under association rules, and shops and offices along University Parkway, Lakewood Ranch Boulevard and SR 70. Lakewood Ranch straddles Manatee and Sarasota counties and sits about 38 straight-line miles from our Seminole shop across the Sunshine Skyway, well past our small-job radius, so we treat panel upgrades here as planned, high-ticket work: site visit, itemized quote, the correct county permit, FPL coordination when needed, then install day. Licensed (EC#13014717).
Call (727) 476-7079 or request a panel visit. Office 7 AM–5 PM, weekend service, 24/7 emergency calls.

Why Lakewood Ranch panels still come up
Lakewood Ranch has about 43,900 residents, and the median home was built in 2014 (Census ACS 2020–2024) — the newest median of anywhere we serve. Most panels are modern builder gear, not Federal Pacific or fuse boxes. The jobs look different here:
- Full builder panels. A 200-amp panel that started with room for everything the builder delivered is often out of spaces after a pool heater, spa, second AC, outdoor kitchen, EV charger or generator inlet
- Relocating or upsizing for additions. Finished bonus rooms, cabanas and garage workshops need a clean panel layout or a subpanel
- Lightning, surge and storm damage. Even new panels get hit; Florida’s adopted electrical code wants surge protection whenever service equipment is replaced
- HOA and CDD exterior rules. An indoor swap is usually straightforward; moving a meter or outdoor disconnect can need architectural review
- Light-commercial spaces along University Parkway and Lakewood Ranch Boulevard that need a panel replacement before a tenant improvement
Utility: Florida Power & Light (FPL) serves most of Lakewood Ranch. A few eastern pockets may sit on a cooperative; check your bill. We coordinate with whichever utility serves your address.
Distance and how we schedule Lakewood Ranch work
Our shop is at 6248 Seminole Blvd, Seminole, FL 33772. Lakewood Ranch is about 38 miles away in a straight line and farther by road across the Skyway, well outside our ~15-mile emergency and small-job response area. That makes it Tier 3: planned, high-ticket work only. For panel upgrades we schedule a site visit and an install day; we do not promise a response time across the Skyway, and we don’t list all-hours office coverage for upgrade visits. Office hours are 7 AM–5 PM with weekend service available. If something is sparking, smoking or already out of power, call us; emergency calls are answered 24/7 and we’ll be honest about the drive and whether a closer electrician makes more sense. See our emergency electrician service.
Panel upgrade or service upgrade?
We’ll tell you which one you actually need after we open the cover and run the numbers:
- A panel upgrade replaces the breaker panel. The power coming into the house stays the same. In a lot of Lakewood Ranch homes, the 200-amp service is fine and the panel is just out of spaces.
- An electrical service upgrade increases the power coming in, usually to 200 amps or to 320/400 when a large home’s load calculation calls for it, with a new meter can, service entrance, main disconnect and an FPL disconnect/reconnect.
Want circuit-level control, EV load management or a better way to use your solar and battery? See our SPAN smart panel page for Longboat Key & Lakewood Ranch. A SPAN Panel can replace a standard panel entirely. We’re a SPAN Authorized Installer with 20 SPAN installs. Solar and batteries are installed by our licensed partner installers; we handle the electrical work and manage the project.
Signs your Lakewood Ranch panel is due
- There’s no open space left and every slot is a tandem
- Breakers trip when the AC, pool pump and dryer run together
- You’re adding an EV, pool heat, outdoor kitchen or generator and the load calculation is tight
- A surge event or lightning strike damaged the panel or main
- A home inspector, insurer or buyer has written it up
- You’re renovating and want every circuit labeled cleanly for the next ten years
Permits in Lakewood Ranch (Manatee or Sarasota)
Lakewood Ranch is unincorporated and straddles the Manatee / Sarasota county line. Which office issues the permit depends on your address, not your mailing ZIP:
- Manatee County side: Manatee County Development Services / Building Division through the county’s Online Services portal (the Manatee permitting office is actually at 9000 Town Center Parkway in Lakewood Ranch)
- Sarasota County side: Sarasota County Planning and Development Services through Accela Citizen Access
We confirm the jurisdiction from your address before we file, pull the permit and meet the inspector. HOA or community architectural approval may also apply for exterior changes; we provide specs and a photo of the planned location if asked.
What a Lakewood Ranch panel upgrade includes
- Walk-through. We open the panel, check the meter, grounding and bonding, look at HOA rules, and ask what the next ten years will add.
- Itemized quote after the site visit. Every part of the job on its own line. No panel prices over the phone.
- Manatee or Sarasota County permit and FPL scheduling when needed.
- Install. A single panel swap is usually a one-day job with a few hours of downtime; relocating equipment or combining the job with a service upgrade takes longer. Every circuit is tested and recorded on a printed directory.
- Whole-house surge protection. Florida’s adopted electrical code calls for a surge protective device whenever a home’s service equipment is replaced. See whole-house surge protection.
- Inspection. We schedule it and meet the inspector.

Pools, generators and solar
Pool equipment, outdoor kitchens and standby generators are common add-ons in Lakewood Ranch. A new panel lets us lay out those circuits cleanly, and if you’re adding solar or a battery through our licensed partners, we can leave a proper place for the interconnection. See generator installation and hookups.
Commercial panels along University Parkway
Medical offices, retail and restaurants along University Parkway, Lakewood Ranch Boulevard and SR 70 often need a panel replacement before a tenant improvement. We assess the existing gear, coordinate with your GC or property manager, and handle the county permit. See commercial electrical service and build-outs & tenant improvements.
Warranty, financing and scheduling
- 3-year workmanship warranty, extended to 5 years for Member Care Plan members.
- Financing available through Acorn Finance, subject to credit approval. Check your options without affecting your credit score. Ask us and we’ll include the financing link with your itemized quote.
- Hours: office 7 AM–5 PM, weekend service, and 24/7 emergency calls. Lakewood Ranch panel work is scheduled.

Lakewood Ranch panel upgrade FAQ
How much does a panel upgrade cost in Lakewood Ranch? It depends on the panel, whether the meter can or main has to move, Manatee vs. Sarasota County permitting, HOA requirements, and any add-ons. You get an itemized quote after a site visit.
Which county issues my permit? It depends on which side of the Manatee / Sarasota line your home sits on. We confirm from your address and pull the permit from the correct portal.
Our home is only ten years old. Why would we replace the panel? Often you wouldn’t — unless it’s full, damaged, or you’re adding loads that need a cleaner layout or a SPAN panel. We’ll tell you honestly after we open the cover.
Do you come to Lakewood Ranch from Seminole? Yes, for scheduled panel, service-upgrade, EV and SPAN work. It’s about 38 miles across the Skyway, well past our small-job radius, so we book a site visit and an install day rather than promising a quick drop-in.
Should I get a SPAN panel instead? If you have solar, a battery, a pool or EV plans, it’s worth a look. See SPAN in Longboat Key & Lakewood Ranch. If a standard panel is the better fit, we’ll say so.
Do you also do panels in Bradenton and Sarasota? Yes. See panel upgrades in Bradenton and panel upgrades in Sarasota.
