Permanent lights look best on clean, new trim, and Wimauma has plenty. Census Bureau 2020–2024 estimates show 52.8% of homes built from 2010 to 2019 and 27.0% in 2020 or later, with a median year built of 2016 or earlier. Residents are young, median age 28.6; 85.3% of occupied homes are owner-occupied, and 35.5% of householders moved in between 2020 and 2022. 15,266 people now live in this unincorporated part of south Hillsborough County. Just closed on one of those houses? Keywest Lights & Electric (KWLE), a woman-owned Florida electrical contractor (license EC13014717) and authorized JellyFish dealer, can light it. Our 6248 Seminole Blvd shop is 30.9 miles away in a straight line.

JellyFish Lighting Authorized Dealer seal

We’re authorized to sell JellyFish; we don’t make it.

A new house, a blank exterior

Most new builds in Wimauma come with lighting from the builder: a fixture by the front door, two lanterns flanking the garage, and not much else. That leaves the eaves dark, and it’s why many owners in these subdivisions look at permanent lighting within their first year. Doing it while the house is new has real advantages:

  • The trim is still in good shape. Fresh soffit and fascia take the channel cleanly, and we can match the channel color to the factory paint.
  • Your first holiday season has no ladder. The first December in the house can also be the first one with no ladder and no tangled strands.
  • Planning happens once. Your HOA review, layout and scenes are settled up front, and you don’t revisit them every fall.

Mounting points on your house

Permanent Christmas lights from JellyFish sit in a low channel fixed beneath the soffit. It traces the eaves around the house and climbs the gable rakes over the garage and entry, and that’s the whole mounting plan. Nothing is fastened to the roof covering, so a new roof’s coverage isn’t in question. The finish matches the trim and the lights barely project, so by day the house looks as it did at closing.

Garage power and Wi-Fi

A single JellyFish controller runs the system. We mount it inside the garage where it draws from an existing outlet, and a small low-voltage cable rises from there into the soffit. New houses tend to have modern ground-fault-protected garage circuits, but those circuits fill up fast. A second refrigerator, a chest freezer and a car charger can all land there within months of move-in. Before anything is connected, a KWLE electrician reviews the breaker, the receptacle and the shared load. We also measure the Wi-Fi at the controller spot, because on two-story plans the router can be on the far side of the house. If something needs attention, you’ll get a written explanation, and the choice is yours.

Programming the first year

One way a young Wimauma family might set up its calendar:

  1. First weeks in the house: a 2700K warm outline every evening.
  2. Fall weekends: your team’s colors on game days, set once for the whole season.
  3. October: pumpkin orange and violet, pulsing slowly while trick-or-treaters are out.
  4. Thanksgiving week: amber and gold for the first family dinner in the new house.
  5. December: permanent Christmas lights, perhaps chasing red and green on weekends and a quiet white twinkle on weeknights.
  6. New Year’s Eve: a burst of sparkle at midnight.
  7. Spring into summer: pastels, school colors for graduation, and stars-and-stripes colors in July.

Every permanent holiday light pattern is saved as a preset, and the app’s calendar switches between them on its own, timed to sunset.

Spacing and white tone

JellyFish makes three spacings. Six inches gives the brightest, most continuous line. Nine inches is the classic bulb-like look most households pick. Sixteen inches spreads the points out. For everyday white, presets range from a cozy 2700K to a crisp 5000K. Warm tones flatter beige and cream stucco, and cooler tones suit gray and white paint.

More than one person at the controls

In a busy house, the lights shouldn’t depend on one person’s phone. The JellyFish app can be shared, so both adults can change scenes, and older kids can join if you want them to. The calendar is set once, and the house follows it no matter who’s home. At the hand-off, we show everyone who’ll use the app how to switch a scene, dim the lights, add a date and shut things down for the night. We also leave a written list of the presets we built.

Second zone as an extra

One zone puts the house on one scene. KWLE can split it into two as an extra, street side and back, handy when the back faces a retention pond or pool cage and you want soft light there while the front runs a holiday show.

Working with your HOA

Newer subdivisions nearly all have architectural review. Read the community’s rules on outdoor lights and seasonal decorations first; they may set display dates or limit animation. JellyFish handles that by showing steady white outside the allowed window, and we put together the packet: product sheet, photos and a marked-up image of your house with the runs.

Hurricane rain

When Milton crossed the state in October 2024, the National Weather Service tallied between ten and fifteen inches of rainfall over the bulk of Hillsborough County. Under the eave, the lights stay out of the heaviest weather, and the controller stays dry indoors, so there’s nothing to add to your storm prep list.

County permits

Wimauma is unincorporated. When a job needs a permit, KWLE applies under our own license and meets the inspector on site.

Warranty coverage

Hardware: JellyFish, 5 years of parts. Labor: KWLE, 2 years, or 5 with Member Care.

Next steps

Phone us or use the form to book a design visit. We measure, take photos, test the outlet and the signal, and go over scenes with you. You’ll receive a written proposal afterward, never a number quoted on the driveway. Our own licensed crew installs the system, without subcontractors, and on the last stop we pair your phone and load your first year of scenes.

Wimauma questions

My house is brand new. Will mounting void anything? We don’t touch the roof covering. Mounting stays beneath the eaves and along the gable rakes.

How soon can I have it before Christmas? It depends on our calendar and how long HOA review takes, so call early and we’ll give you an honest timeline.

Your HOA approval packet from us includes:

  • Product data published by JellyFish
  • Our soffit-matched track color choice
  • Your home’s photo with the runs drawn in along eaves and gable rakes
  • The controller’s garage location and plug-in outlet
  • Our state license, EC13014717

We assemble it; the association weighs it and decides.

What if one light quits? Thanks to JellyFish’s redundant data line, the rest keep working while we replace that one under warranty.

Is Keywest Lights & Electric woman-owned? It is. KWLE is woman-owned.

Can I control the lights when I’m away from home? Yes. The JellyFish app connects through your home Wi-Fi, so you can change scenes or schedules from anywhere your phone is online.

Is a two-zone setup worth it on a larger Wimauma house? It’s an extra option we offer. One zone can cover the front gable rakes and the other the side and back soffits, each on its own schedule. Ask about it at the design visit.

Do the lights need to come down for hurricanes? No. They stay in the channel under the eaves all year. If a storm damages the fascia or soffit, call 727-476-7079 and we’ll check the lights while that repair is planned.

Where is the controller mounted? On a garage wall, using an existing outlet you already have.

How long do permanent lights on a house last? They’re built for years of nightly use. JellyFish backs the parts for 5 years; our workmanship coverage is 2 years, or 5 with Member Care.

Can I see the track in daylight? Barely. It sits under the eaves, painted to match the trim.

Do I hire hangers every year, or install once and be done?

A hanging service clips strings on every fall and pulls them in January. In Wimauma we mount JellyFish track a single time under the eaves and up the gable rakes, and it stays: no takedown visit, no storage tub, no repeat bill. Those same lights do December, Hanukkah lights in blue and white, birthdays, and a warm white glow every other night.

JellyFish Lighting is a trademark of whoever owns the brand; KWLE is an independent authorized dealer and installer, not the brand owner.

JellyFish lights, kick off to finish, in Wimauma
