Sun City Center’s median resident is 69 years old, the Census reports, and 84% of occupied homes are owner-occupied. Around 33,500 people live in this unincorporated south Hillsborough community. It’s a place where people would rather enjoy the holidays than spend them on a ladder. JellyFish permanent lighting is built for exactly that: lights mounted once by professionals, then run from a phone or on an automatic schedule for years. Keywest Lights & Electric (KWLE), a woman-owned electrical contractor holding Florida license EC13014717, is an authorized JellyFish installer. We work out of 6248 Seminole Blvd, 27.5 miles from Sun City Center as the crow flies.

Arrange a no-cost, no-pressure design visit by calling (727) 476-7079 or sending the form.

Send us a photo of the front of your Sun City Center home with the form below, and we’ll reply with a free design preview of light along each eave.

Built around “I don’t want to fuss with it”

The most common thing we hear from Sun City Center owners is some version of “I want it to just work.” So that’s how we set it up:

  • We program the whole year for you. At the hand-off, we load a calendar of scenes: warm white every evening, colors for the holidays you celebrate, and anything else you ask for. The lights follow sunset automatically.
  • You don’t have to open the app. If you’d rather never touch it, you don’t need to. If you’d like to, we’ll show you, slowly, until you’re comfortable.
  • A family member can help remotely. You can share access with a son, daughter or grandchild, who can adjust things from their own phone, even from out of state.
  • One phone number for service: (727) 476-7079.

Villas, attached homes and associations

About 30% of housing units in Sun City Center are single-family attached, according to the Census. Villas and other attached homes often share a roof and exterior with neighbors, and an association often maintains the outside. Here’s how that works with permanent lighting:

  1. Approval comes first. If the association controls the exterior, we need its written OK before we can schedule. We’ll prepare the packet: product information, daytime and nighttime photos, and a marked-up photo of your unit.
  2. Your section, cleanly bounded. Track stops at a natural break at the edge of your unit, so it looks finished.
  3. Independent control. Your own controller sits on your own garage outlet with your own app account.

Associations that regulate holiday decorations often set dates or limit flashing effects. JellyFish can be programmed to stay a steady, neutral white outside those dates, which is often what wins approval.

Mounting: under the eaves, never on the roof

JellyFish track attaches beneath the soffit along each eave, and along gable rakes where a home has them. Our crews never fasten anything to roof shingles or tile and never run lights along a ridge. The track’s color is matched to your soffit when we measure, and the small lights sit almost flush. From the sidewalk in daylight, most people never notice it.

Power: your existing garage outlet, checked by an electrician

The JellyFish controller hangs on the garage wall and plugs into an outlet that’s already there. A thin low-voltage cable runs up through the soffit to the lights. Before we use the outlet, our licensed electrician confirms the breaker, checks what else is on the circuit (a golf cart charger, a second refrigerator or a freezer, for example), verifies ground-fault protection and inspects the receptacle. If we see a problem, we explain it in plain language and in writing, with your options. Repairs are always separate and always your decision.

Older sections and newer sections

Sun City Center isn’t all one age. The Census estimates that about 23% of its homes predate 1980, while roughly 29% were built in 2010 or later, and the median falls in 1997. That spread matters. On an older home we look closely at the fascia and soffit for soft wood or loose panels before we mount anything, and we pay extra attention to the garage circuit. On a newer home the checks are usually quick. Either way, the visit covers both before you see a proposal.

Seasons on autopilot

SeasonExample scene
Everyday eveningsGentle 2700K warm white from dusk until 10 p.m.
Winter holidaysPermanent Christmas lights in red and green, or an elegant all-white twinkle

Every permanent holiday light look in that table is a saved preset, and the calendar switches between them for you.

Security and peace of mind

Good exterior light makes walkways safer and homes look lived-in. JellyFish can run a bright white along the eaves over the entry and driveway, either on a nightly schedule or turned on from the app when you hear something. JellyFish says its accent and security setting can stand in for traditional soffit lighting. For owners who travel in summer, a scheduled scene keeps the house looking occupied.

Two zones, if it helps

As a single zone, every light on the house follows one scene. For detached homes where the back elevation faces a pond or a lanai you use in the evening, KWLE can add a second zone as an extra option, so the back can stay calm while the front celebrates. Most villas won’t need it.

Storm readiness

South Hillsborough saw heavy rain in Hurricane Milton (2024). The National Weather Service reported 10 to 15 inches over most of the county. Lights tucked under the overhang are sheltered, and the controller stays inside. When a storm is coming, there’s nothing to take down.

Permits

Sun City Center is unincorporated, so permits come from Hillsborough County. If your project requires one, we file it on our license and handle the inspection.

Warranty

JellyFish’s 5-year parts warranty covers the hardware. Our 2-year workmanship warranty covers the installation, extended to five years for members of our Member Care Plan.

Sun City Center FAQ

I’m not comfortable with apps. Is that a problem? Not at all. We set the schedule for you, and it runs on its own.

Can my daughter control it from Ohio? Yes, if you share app access with her.

Will anyone be on my roof? Our crew works from ladders at the eaves. Nothing goes on the roof itself.

Is KWLE woman-owned? Yes. That’s the only claim we make; there’s no certification.
