Scheduled panel and breaker box replacement for East Lake homes and light-commercial spaces around Lake Tarpon in north Pinellas: gated and HOA villages, 1980s–90s pool homes, larger single-family houses in East Lake Woodlands and nearby communities, and shops along East Lake Road and Tampa Road. East Lake is unincorporated Pinellas County, about 20 miles from our Seminole shop, so we treat panel upgrades here as planned, high-ticket work: site visit, itemized quote, Pinellas County permit through the Access Portal, utility coordination with Duke Energy Florida or TECO (whichever serves your street), then install day. Licensed (EC#13014717).
Call (727) 476-7079 or request a panel visit. Office 7 AM–5 PM, weekend service, 24/7 emergency calls.

Why East Lake panels come up so often
East Lake has about 33,300 residents, and the median home was built in 1990 (Census ACS 2020–2024). That puts a lot of original panels at 30 to 40 years old — right where insurers and home inspectors start asking questions, and where a pool heater, second AC or EV charger has already filled every slot:
- 1980s–90s pool homes around Lake Tarpon and off East Lake Road, where the original panel is full of tandems
- Gated and HOA communities such as East Lake Woodlands, where the builder panel is modern but often out of spaces after outdoor kitchens, generators and EV circuits
- Larger single-family homes with long circuit lists and sometimes services that need a closer look before anything is added
- Condos and villas where the unit panel is the owner’s and the meter bank belongs to the association
- Shops and offices along East Lake Road and Tampa Road that need a clean panel replacement before a tenant change
East Lake is unincorporated Pinellas County, so there’s no city building department; permits go through the county. The utility is Duke Energy Florida or TECO, depending on the street — boundaries don’t follow the CDP line, so check your bill.
Distance and how we schedule East Lake work
Our shop is at 6248 Seminole Blvd, Seminole, FL 33772. East Lake is about 20 miles away, outside our ~15-mile emergency and small-job response area. That makes it Tier 3: planned, high-ticket work only. For panel upgrades we schedule a site visit and an install day; we do not promise a response time to North Pinellas, and we don’t list all-hours office coverage for upgrade visits. Office hours are 7 AM–5 PM with weekend service available. If something is sparking, smoking or already out of power, call us; emergency calls are answered 24/7 and we’ll be honest about the drive. See our emergency electrician service.
Panel upgrade or service upgrade?
We’ll tell you which one you actually need after we open the cover and run the numbers:
- A panel upgrade replaces the breaker panel. The power coming into the house stays the same.
- An electrical service upgrade increases the power coming in, usually to 200 amps, with a new meter can, service entrance, main disconnect and a utility disconnect/reconnect. Some older East Lake homes still run on 100 or 150 amps, and larger pool homes sometimes need more than 200.
Want circuit-level control, EV load management or battery-ready planning? A SPAN smart panel in East Lake can replace a standard panel entirely. We’re a SPAN Authorized Installer with 20 SPAN installs. Solar and batteries are installed by our licensed partner installers; we handle the electrical work and manage the project.
Signs your East Lake panel is due
- The cover, a breaker or the meter can feels warm, or you hear buzzing
- Breakers trip when the AC, pool pump and dryer run together
- There’s no open space left and every slot is a tandem
- Rust on an outdoor panel or meter can
- A home inspector, insurer or buyer has written it up on a 4-point inspection
- It’s a Federal Pacific, Zinsco, a fuse box or another brand insurers flag. See Federal Pacific & Zinsco replacement.
Permits in East Lake
East Lake is unincorporated, so electrical permits come from Pinellas County Building & Development Review Services (440 Court St., Clearwater) through the county’s online Access Portal. We pull the permit and meet the inspector.
Utility: Duke Energy Florida or TECO, depending on your street. Check your bill. When the meter can has to be pulled or service equipment changes, we coordinate the disconnect and reconnect with whichever utility serves you.
HOAs: many East Lake villages have architectural review. An indoor or garage panel swap rarely needs approval; exterior changes may. We’ll provide specs and a photo of the planned location if asked.
What an East Lake panel upgrade includes
- Walk-through. We open the panel, check the meter, grounding, bonding and any aluminum terminations, look at HOA rules, and ask what the next ten years will add.
- Itemized quote after the site visit. Every part of the job on its own line. No panel prices over the phone.
- Pinellas County permit through the Access Portal and utility scheduling when needed.
- Install. A single panel swap is usually a one-day job with a few hours of downtime; relocating equipment or combining the job with a service upgrade takes longer. Every circuit is tested and recorded on a printed directory.
- Whole-house surge protection. Florida’s adopted electrical code calls for a surge protective device whenever a home’s service equipment is replaced. See whole-house surge protection.
- County inspection. We schedule it and meet the inspector.

Pools, Lake Tarpon and generators
Pool heaters, spas and outdoor kitchens are common loads around Lake Tarpon. Many homes also added a generator after recent hurricane seasons. A new panel lets us lay out those circuits cleanly. See generator installation and hookups.
Warranty, financing and scheduling
- 3-year workmanship warranty, extended to 5 years for Member Care Plan members.
- Financing available through Acorn Finance, subject to credit approval. Check your options without affecting your credit score. Ask us and we’ll include the financing link with your itemized quote.
- Hours: office 7 AM–5 PM, weekend service, and 24/7 emergency calls. East Lake panel work is scheduled.

East Lake panel upgrade FAQ
How much does a panel upgrade cost in East Lake? It depends on the panel, whether the meter can or main has to move, Pinellas County permitting, and any code corrections. You get an itemized quote after a site visit.
Is East Lake on Duke Energy or TECO? Both serve parts of East Lake. Check your bill. We coordinate with whichever utility serves your address.
Who issues the permit? Pinellas County Building & Development Review Services through the Access Portal, because East Lake is unincorporated.
Do you really come to East Lake from Seminole? Yes, for scheduled panel, service-upgrade, EV and SPAN work. It’s about 20 miles, past our small-job radius, so we book a site visit and an install day rather than promising a quick drop-in.
Do you also do panels in Palm Harbor? Yes. See panel upgrades in Palm Harbor.
