A town called Holiday ought to have its lights up all year. This unincorporated community in southwest Pasco County, just over the Pinellas line from Tarpon Springs, is home to about 22,800 people. Its housing is older than most. The Census puts the median home at 1977, and nearly two-thirds of homes were built before 1980. That’s why it matters who installs your lighting. Keywest Lights & Electric is a woman-owned electrical contractor (EC13014717) and an authorized JellyFish Lighting dealer. From our shop at 6248 Seminole Blvd, Holiday is 24.8 miles away in a straight line.

Electrician first, lights second

On a house from the 1960s or ’70s, the risky part of permanent lighting isn’t the lights. It’s the power. The JellyFish controller plugs into an existing garage outlet. In an older home, that outlet might be:

  • Two-prong and ungrounded.
  • Missing ground-fault protection.
  • Sharing a circuit with a chest freezer, a washer or a workshop.
  • Loose or heat-marked after decades of use.

Our technician checks all of that before the controller is mounted. If the outlet is sound, we use it. If it isn’t, we tell you in writing what we found and what your options are. Any electrical repair is quoted separately and is your decision. We won’t hang a new lighting system on a circuit we wouldn’t trust in our own homes, and we’ll explain what we see in plain language, not jargon.

Where the lights go on a Holiday home

The JellyFish track is a slim aluminum channel. We fasten it under the soffit along your eaves, and up the gable rakes where the house has gables. We never install on the roof surface or along the ridge, and no fastener goes through your roofing. On older homes, we also look at the condition of the fascia and soffit before mounting. If the wood is soft or the soffit is damaged, we point it out first, because track should go on sound material.

Manufactured homes

About one in six housing units in Holiday is a mobile or manufactured home, according to the Census, which is a larger share than in most places we serve. Many of these can take JellyFish. The overhang, the fascia and the power location decide it. Without a garage, we look for another protected indoor location with an existing outlet we’ve tested. If your park has rules on exterior changes, we’ll provide product details for the approval.

Close to the Gulf

Holiday is in coastal Pasco. In Hurricane Helene in 2024, the National Hurricane Center reported surge inundation of 6 to 9 feet above ground along the coast from south of Cedar Key to the Anclote River, a stretch that includes the Pasco shoreline. For lighting, the lesson is simple. Keep the electronics inside, mounted up off the garage floor, and keep the light track tucked under the overhang, out of direct wind and rain. That’s how every KWLE system is installed.

A year of scenes

In Holiday, the name practically writes the calendar. Some ideas:

OccasionScene idea
Christmas seasonRed and green, a candy-cane chase, or a warm white twinkle
New Year’s EveGold sparkle at midnight on a timer
Valentine’s DaySoft red and pink
St. Patrick’s DayGreen
Independence DayRed, white and blue
HalloweenOrange and purple flicker
Every other nightWarm white accent from dusk to bedtime

Each permanent holiday light scene lives in the app. Schedule them once and the house changes by itself, with no ladder, no extension cords, and no box of tangled strands.

Easier for owners who’d rather stay off ladders

For many people, the worst part of holiday lighting is the ladder. Permanent Christmas lights take that out of the picture. Once our crew installs the track, everything else happens from a phone or tablet. If you’d like, we’ll set up the schedules at install so the house runs on its own, and you never have to open the app unless you want to.

Renting? Bring the owner in early

About a third of occupied homes in Holiday are renter-occupied, according to the Census. If you rent, you can still have permanent lighting, but the property owner has to agree in writing before we mount anything. The system is fastened to the house and stays with it. For landlords, that can be a selling point. A rental with permanent lighting already installed looks cared for, and a tenant doesn’t need ladders or extension cords to decorate. If you own a rental in Holiday, we can design a simple warm-white setup with a few holiday scenes, so the property looks good without any work from your tenants. Either way, we’ll put the plan in writing so both sides know exactly what’s being installed and where.

Zones

On one zone, the whole house follows the same scene. As an extra KWLE option, we can set up two zones, such as front and back. That’s handy if the back faces a canal, a lake or a neighbor’s bedroom window and should stay softer than the street side.

Permits in Pasco County

Holiday is unincorporated, so Pasco County is the permitting authority. If your installation requires a permit, KWLE applies for it under our license and coordinates inspection.

Warranty coverage

The hardware carries the JellyFish 5-year parts warranty. Our installation carries KWLE’s 2-year workmanship warranty, or 5 years for Member Care Plan members. Service starts with a call to (727) 476-7079.

How it goes

The visit. We come to the house, check the garage outlet and circuit, look at the fascia and soffit, measure the runs and test Wi-Fi in the garage.

The proposal. A written plan with runs, controller location, zone choice and warranty terms. We don’t quote numbers at the door.

The install. Our own licensed crew mounts the track and sets up the controller. No subcontractors.

The hand-off. We pair the app, load your scenes and set your schedules.

Holiday, FL questions

My house has old wiring. Can I still get JellyFish? Usually, yes. We check the garage outlet and circuit first and tell you if anything needs to be fixed before install.

Will it put holes in my roof? No. Everything mounts under the soffit and along the gable rakes.

Do I need a smartphone? A phone or tablet with the app, plus home Wi-Fi reaching the garage.

Can I keep the lights plain white most of the year? Of course. Many owners run a warm white accent on a timer, switch to color only for holidays, and change it whenever they want from the app.

Is KWLE woman-owned? Yes, and that’s all we claim. We don’t advertise a certification.
