Send the Elfers address and the eaves to cover; we’ll text or call.

Elfers is an older community: the Census estimates 51.3% of homes were built in the 1970s, with a median year built of 1975 or earlier. Most are detached single-family houses (82.4%), and 15,006 people live in this unincorporated community in west Pasco County next to New Port Richey. Older homes deserve permanent lighting as much as new ones; they just need an electrician’s eye first. KWLE (Keywest Lights & Electric) holds Florida electrical license EC13014717, is woman-owned and is an authorized JellyFish dealer. From 6248 Seminole Blvd to Elfers is 26.9 miles in a straight line.

Our pre-install checklist for a 1970s house

Before we quote anything, our technician goes through this list on every Elfers home:

ItemWhat we look forWhy it matters
Garage outletGrounding, GFCI protection, a tight receptacle, no heat marksThe JellyFish controller plugs in here
Garage circuitWhat else shares the breaker: freezer, washer, toolsAn overloaded circuit causes trips and dropouts
Fascia boardsSoft or rotted wood, old nail holes, peeling paintTrack needs sound material to fasten to
SoffitLoose or sagging panels, gaps, pest damageThe track mounts under it and the cable runs through it
Existing exterior fixturesWorking, sealed, safely wiredWe’ll be working right beside them
Wi-Fi at the garageSignal strength at the controller spotThe app runs through your home network

If something fails, you’ll get a short written note explaining what we found and your options. Repairs are quoted separately and your choice. We won’t mount new lighting on a circuit or a board we wouldn’t trust.

Where the lights go

The system is a slim aluminum track of individually controlled LEDs, fastened beneath the soffit along the eaves and, on gabled ends, up each rake. That’s all. Roofs and ridges are never touched or pierced. Houses from this era have long, low, simple eaves, and one band of light beneath them looks clean from the street; the soffit-matched track is very hard to spot by day.

The controller stays in the garage

The controller mounts on the garage wall on a tested outlet, and a low-voltage cable runs into the soffit to the first light; nothing new on the outside wall and no cord across the driveway. With a carport instead of a garage, we use another protected indoor spot with an existing outlet, like a laundry room, tested the same way.

Factory-built homes

Census figures count 9.9% of Elfers housing units as mobile homes. A factory-built house can carry JellyFish when three conditions line up: a real overhang, fascia that will hold a fastener, and a sheltered outlet for the controller. The visit settles it, and we’ll be straightforward if yours isn’t suitable. Park or community rules on exterior changes come first; we supply whatever paperwork the approval needs.

One zone or two

As one zone, the whole house plays one scene. KWLE offers a second zone as an extra when the back, facing a pool or a neighbor, should glow more quietly than the street side.

What you can do with it

The obvious use is permanent Christmas lights: the house lights itself every December evening, and nobody has to climb a ladder in the cold or the heat. The less obvious uses are why owners love it the rest of the year:

  • Accent: a warm 2700K glow under the eaves from dusk until bedtime.
  • Security: bright white on all sides, on a schedule or with one tap if something wakes you.
  • Holidays: pink hearts in February, green in March, patriotic stripes in July, pumpkin tones in October.
  • Family events: a grandchild’s birthday colors, or a welcome-home glow when someone’s been away.

Every permanent holiday light scene is saved in the app and can be set on a calendar.

For owners who are done with ladders

Climbing a ladder twice a year to hang and remove strands is a chore many owners would happily retire. A permanent system takes that job off the list for good. Once it’s in, the schedule runs it. If you’d rather never open the app, we’ll set the full calendar at the hand-off and the house will just do it.

Landlords and tenants

35.5% of Elfers households rent, by the Census count. Tenants who’d like permanent lighting should start with the property owner, because the track is fastened to the building and stays when the lease ends. We can’t schedule without the owner’s signature. For owners of older rentals, a modest setup can make a 1970s house look cared for at night. Think warm white year-round with a short list of holiday scenes, and nothing a tenant needs to maintain. We’ll walk a landlord through the same pre-install checklist, so any wiring concerns get documented before the system goes up.

Storms

West Pasco knows storms. The National Hurricane Center’s Helene report (2024) describes 6 to 9 feet of inundation along the Gulf coast from Cedar Key south to the Anclote River, Pasco’s shore included. The track sits under the overhang, sheltered from wind and rain, and the controller is indoors, so nothing comes down before a storm or goes back up after.

Permits

Even with a New Port Richey mailing address, Elfers sits outside that city; it’s unincorporated Pasco, and the county issues permits. If your job needs one, we take care of the filing on our license and meet the inspector.

Warranty

  • Parts: track, lights and controller carry the JellyFish 5-year parts warranty.
  • Workmanship: our 2-year workmanship warranty, which becomes 5 years on a Member Care Plan.

Found us with permanent Christmas lights? We cover Elfers

The crew shows up with the layout already drawn from your mockup, uses the garage outlet you have as the only power source, and walks you through the app on your own phone before leaving. Homes are compact here, a median of 4.8 rooms with 63.1% at two bedrooms, per Census Bureau 2020–2024 estimates.

An existing garage outlet powers everything and the controller sits beside it. The channel is colored to blend with the trim, so daytime curb appeal is unchanged, and the pitch is simple: nothing to hang in November, nothing to take down in January.

Seasonal crew or permanent lights: what’s the real difference?

A hang-and-remove service strings lights before the holidays, removes them after, and repeats it every year. In Elfers, JellyFish is installed once along the eaves and gable rakes, stays put, and switches from your phone among Christmas, blue-and-white Hanukkah lights, other holidays and everyday white. For one December, hire hangers; for every year without the ladder, go permanent.

JellyFish Lighting is a mark owned by its maker; Keywest Lights & Electric installs it as an independent authorized dealer.
