24/7 Emergency Electrician in Kenneth City, FL

Kenneth City was incorporated in 1957 and mostly built over the following decade. Many of its homes still run on the panel, the 100-amp service and the overhead drop they started with. That’s why our late calls from town are often a main breaker that gives out on a hot August afternoon, a Federal Pacific panel that smells scorched, or a meter box pulled off the wall by an oak limb. Call (727) 476-7079 any time. We’re about 5½ miles away in Seminole, and you’ll get an honest arrival estimate and our after-hours rate before we dispatch. Licensed EC#13014717.

Call (727) 476-7079. Emergency calls are answered 24/7.

Smoke, flames or a shock injury? Call 911 first. If you can get to the main breaker without standing in water, turn it off. Keep everyone back from a fallen line or a meter box hanging off the wall.

The 1960s house problem

Kenneth City has about 5,000 residents, and its median home was built in 1964 (Census ACS 2020–2024), one of the oldest medians in Pinellas County. In practice, that means:

  • Federal Pacific and Zinsco panels from the town’s first decade. Their breakers have a long record of not tripping when they should. A hot, buzzing or scorched one is an emergency, not a repair to schedule later.
  • 100-amp services under summer load. Central AC, a dryer, a range and a pool pump running together can wear out a tired main breaker. If the main keeps tripping, that’s a warning, not just an annoyance.
  • Two-prong, ungrounded outlets, and in some late-’60s homes, aluminum branch wiring. Loose connections overheat, and a warm cover plate or faint plastic smell is worth a call.
  • Earlier “fixes” like an oversized fuse, a double-tapped breaker or a subpanel added without a permit

When the immediate danger is handled, we’ll tell you straight whether the panel needs replacing. If it does, we’ll quote a Kenneth City panel upgrade on a normal daytime visit.

Trees, wind and the overhead drop

Mature shade trees line many streets in town, and plenty of homes are still fed overhead to a roof or wall mast. When a limb comes down in a squall or a hurricane, here’s how responsibility splits:

  1. Duke Energy owns the line from the pole and the meter. Call them about the wire.
  2. You own the mast or riser, the weatherhead, the attachment hardware and the meter box. A licensed electrician repairs those.
  3. A permit and inspection are usually needed before Duke reconnects. In Kenneth City, private-property electrical work is permitted by Pinellas County, not the town.

We make it safe, rebuild your side, file the county permit and coordinate with Duke so you’re reconnected as soon as the inspection clears. If the old service was undersized anyway, we’ll talk about a 200-amp service upgrade while the work is already open.

When the power’s out

  • Neighbors dark too? Report it to Duke in the app or at duke-energy.com.
  • Flooded panel or outlets? Leave them off. Duke won’t reconnect a flooded home until it’s been repaired and signed off.
  • Generator: run it in the yard, away from windows, never in the carport. Use heavy-duty cords or a generator inlet with a listed interlock. A cord into a dryer outlet can energize the line out to the street. See generator installation.
  • Several electronics dead at once? The house probably took a surge. Ask about whole-house surge protection when we repair the damage.

Shops along 54th Avenue North

For the restaurants, salons, shops and offices along the town’s main commercial corridor, we handle dead coolers and kitchen circuits, tripped or hot panels, and sign or parking-lot lighting failures. We restore what’s safe and quote larger repairs separately. See commercial electrical service.

Your call, step by step

A real person answers and asks what you’re seeing, whether anyone is at risk and whether there’s damage at the meter. You’ll hear the after-hours rate before we dispatch. On site, we trace the fault, make the house safe and repair what we can. Permits are filed with Pinellas County Building & Development Review Services, and bigger repairs get an itemized quote. Hours: emergency calls 24/7; office 7 AM–5 PM, plus weekend service.

Not urgent?

A dead outlet with no heat or smell, a fan that quit, or a garage GFCI that won’t reset can wait for a regular-rate visit. Book online.

Kenneth City emergency FAQ

My Federal Pacific panel smells like it’s burning. What should I do? Turn off the main if you can do it safely, keep everyone away from the panel and call us now.

A limb pulled my meter box off the house. Who fixes it? Duke handles the line. We repair the meter box, mast and weatherhead, which are yours, and file the county permit.

Why does my main breaker trip on hot afternoons? Often it’s a 100-amp service or a worn main breaker under AC load. If it’s hot or keeps tripping, call. Don’t keep resetting it.

Does the town issue electrical permits? No. Electrical work on private property in Kenneth City is permitted by Pinellas County.

How quickly can you get here? We’re about 5½ miles away. We’ll give you an honest estimate based on the hour and the calls ahead of yours.

Is there an after-hours rate? Yes, and you’ll hear it before we dispatch.
