A licensed electrician for small jobs
Plenty of people search for a handyman electrician when one outlet quits. What they usually want is someone who answers, shows up, and does the small job right. That is the work this page is about: a service call for a problem you can see, handled by a Florida licensed electrical contractor (EC13014717) rather than a general handyman.
Small electrical problems are rarely random. A dead outlet can be the last stop on a loose splice; a light that dims when the microwave runs can point to a shared neutral. Fixing the symptom without the cause just brings you back to the same call next month.
Electrical problems in the house we trace most
- Part of the house lost power while the rest still works: often one leg of the service, a failed breaker or a burned connection
- Outlets that quit in a row: a GFCI that tripped somewhere upstream, or one loose backstab connection feeding the rest
- Flickering or dimming lights that change when big appliances start
- Warm, discolored or buzzing outlets, switches and dimmers
- Breakers that trip on a schedule or for no clear reason (more on our tripping breaker repair page)
- Appliances that stop heating or running, like a water heater, dryer, pool heater or spa, where the question is power vs. the appliance itself
- Outdoor and lanai circuits that fail after rain
How a troubleshooting visit runs
- Your story first: what failed, what was running, whether it rained, whether anything was recently added
- Panel and protection check: breakers, GFCIs and AFCIs, and the labels (or lack of them)
- Testing under load: a circuit can read fine with nothing on it and fail the moment it is used
- Opening the run: boxes, splices, attic junctions and device terminals on the affected circuit
- Price before work: you hear what is wrong and what the repair costs before we start
- Repair, retest, label: the circuit is proven before we leave, and the breaker gets a label you can read
Our guide to electrical troubleshooting in Pinellas covers the warning signs that mean you should call right away.

Repairs for businesses
A dead circuit in a kitchen line, a cooler that keeps dropping out, or a row of fixtures that went dark costs a business money by the hour. We handle commercial repair calls for restaurants, offices, retail and warehouses, and we can work before or after your hours. See commercial electrical service or, for county-wide work, our Pinellas commercial electrician page.

How we troubleshoot

We start with what you noticed and when, then test at the panel and at the affected outlets, switches and fixtures. Most problems trace to a loose connection, a failing breaker or GFCI, a damaged cable or an overloaded circuit. We explain what we found, fix it, and test the circuit before we leave.

FAQ
Will you come out for one small repair? Yes. A single dead outlet, a switch that crackles or one light that flickers is a normal service call for us. Small jobs are often where a bigger wiring problem first shows up, so we would rather see them early.
How do you charge for troubleshooting? We diagnose first and give you the price for the repair before we start. Nothing is added without your OK. We do not list prices on this page because the fix depends on what we find.
Is it safe to keep resetting a breaker or GFCI? No. If it trips again, or trips with nothing plugged in, leave it off and call. Repeated resets can heat a damaged connection further.
Why are only some outlets or lights dead? Usually a tripped GFCI that feeds other outlets downstream, a loose connection at one device in the chain, or a failing breaker. We test the circuit to find which one it is instead of replacing parts at random.
Do you troubleshoot commercial buildings too? Yes. Restaurants, offices, shops and warehouses call us for dead circuits, tripping equipment and lighting failures, and we can schedule around your hours.
What if the repair turns into bigger work? We explain what we found and your options in plain language before anything changes. If the fix needs a permit, such as a new circuit, we pull the permit and handle the inspection.
