The project: a complete electrical gut and remodel
When a building is gutted, the old wiring, fixtures and devices come out with it. That makes it the right moment to lay out the electrical for how the space will actually be used, instead of patching new work onto an old system. At Post 158 we demolished the existing electrical throughout the building and rebuilt it area by area for the main hall, the kitchen and the back offices.
What we did
- Full demo: removed the existing electrical throughout the whole building.
- Three new panels: one for the main hall area, one for the kitchen and one for the back offices.
- All new lighting throughout the building. Lighting installation →
- New ceiling fans.
- All new electrical outlets.
- New security and access control for the doors, including the low-voltage wiring. Low voltage & data cabling →
Why a separate panel for each area
Giving the main hall, the kitchen and the back offices their own panels keeps each area’s circuits together and clearly labeled. Staff and future electricians can find the right breaker quickly, and work in one area doesn’t mean shutting down the others.
