The three Redington towns sit side by side on Gulf Boulevard, but their panels have very different stories. Redington Beach has the oldest median home in our service area (1959), so we still open fuse boxes and 100-amp services there. Redington Shores and North Redington Beach are mostly 1970s homes and Gulf-front condos. Their problems are Federal Pacific and Zinsco panels, salt-air rust, and equipment that sat in the 2024 surges. Our shop is about 2–2½ miles away, and this page covers panel work in all three towns: Redington Beach, North Redington Beach and Redington Shores.

By town
Census ACS 2020–2024 figures put the median home at 1976 in Redington Shores (about 2,000 residents), 1978 in North Redington Beach and 1959 in Redington Beach.
Redington Beach: the oldest houses. Expect fuse boxes, early breaker panels, small services and wiring that predates central AC. A new panel here often goes hand in hand with a service upgrade to 200 amps and new grounding.
Redington Shores and North Redington Beach: 1970s homes and condos. Original Federal Pacific Stab-Lok or Zinsco panels that 4-point inspectors and insurers rarely accept (more on FPE & Zinsco →), plus condo unit panels with no room for a renovation.
All three: outdoor panels and meter cans rusting from the inside out, and panels and breakers that sat in Helene’s or Milton’s saltwater. Those should be replaced, not dried out and reused.
Gulf Boulevard condos
In most Redington buildings, the unit panel and wiring are the owner’s, while the meter bank, feeders and electrical rooms belong to the association. A typical job looks like this: we confirm the building’s contractor rules, size the panel for your renovation, schedule the feeder shutoff with the property manager and send the board any specs it asks for. If the unit is a vacation rental, we plan around your guest calendar.
Raising equipment out of the flood zone
Nearly every Redington lot is in a coastal flood hazard area. When panel work is part of a remodel, rebuild or storm repair, the town may treat it as a substantial improvement or substantial damage project, which can require the meter, main and outdoor equipment to sit above the required flood elevation. Before quoting, we check your flood zone and how the home is built (on a slab, on a crawlspace, elevated, or with parking underneath), and we’ll tell you whether it’s a straight swap or a raise-and-rebuild. We use corrosion-resistant outdoor gear and weather-rated covers either way.
Who issues the permit
- Redington Shores: Town of Redington Shores Building Department, 17425 Gulf Blvd. It’s open to the public Monday through Thursday and closed to the public on Fridays, so we schedule pickups and inspections around that.
- Redington Beach: since November 10, 2025, the town’s contracted provider, SAFEbuilt, runs its building department from 17985 Gulf Blvd in Redington Shores.
- North Redington Beach: also contracts with SAFEbuilt (same office), and bigger flood-zone projects may face substantial-improvement review.
We pull the permit and meet the inspector, and Duke Energy Florida handles the disconnect and reconnect, which we schedule. Unpermitted panel work can cause trouble with flood and wind insurance claims and when you sell.
Is your panel due?
- It’s a fuse box, Federal Pacific, Zinsco or other flagged brand, or the label is unreadable
- There’s rust along the bottom or around the breakers
- It feels warm or buzzes
- Breakers trip when the AC, dryer and kitchen run together
- It sat in floodwater, even if it “still works”
- An inspector, insurer or condo association has written it up
A scorched breaker or burning smell is an emergency. Shut off the main if it’s safe and call our emergency line, answered 24/7.
How the job works
We walk through the panel, meter, grounding and bonding, flood history and building rules, then send an itemized quote, never a phone price. A straight swap is usually one day. Raised equipment or guest-calendar scheduling takes longer. Every circuit is tested and labeled. Florida’s adopted code calls for a surge protective device when service equipment is replaced. See whole-house surge protection. We schedule the town inspection and attend it. Compare our Good and Best panel options.
For circuit-level control or backup planning, a SPAN smart panel can replace a standard panel. We’re a SPAN Authorized Installer with 20 SPAN installs. The nearest SPAN page for this stretch of beach is SPAN in St. Pete Beach & Treasure Island.
Warranty and financing

Redington panel upgrade FAQ
My Redington Beach house still has a fuse box. Can you replace it? Yes. We often pair it with a 200-amp service upgrade and new grounding. You’ll get an itemized quote after a site visit.
Which office issues my permit? Redington Shores has its own Building Department at 17425 Gulf Blvd. Redington Beach (since November 2025) and North Redington Beach use their contracted provider, SAFEbuilt.
My panel was in the 2024 surge but still works. Should I replace it? Yes, we recommend it. Saltwater keeps corroding breakers and bus bars.
Can you replace a condo unit panel without shutting down the building? Usually. Only your unit’s feeder goes off, and we schedule it with the manager.
Will my new panel have to be raised? Only if the project triggers flood review or the equipment sits below the required elevation. We check first.
How much does it cost? It depends on the panel, the service, flood-elevation work and building rules. You get an itemized quote after the visit.
