Christmas light installation in Valrico only has to happen once. Valrico is a big, owner-occupied community in eastern Hillsborough County: census estimates show 40,239 residents, 79.0% of homes owner-occupied and a median age of 44.5. The median year built is 1996 or earlier, with 32.9% of homes from the 2000s and 23.9% from the 1990s. For a house lit every holiday without anyone on a ladder, Keywest Lights & Electric (KWLE) sets it up with JellyFish. KWLE is woman-owned and licensed (EC13014717); our shop at 6248 Seminole Blvd is 34.5 miles west as the crow flies.

Houses from the ’90s and 2000s

A house from the late 1990s or 2000s has had two or three decades of Florida weather. That’s fine for JellyFish in most cases, but it’s why we look before we mount. We check vinyl soffit that’s turned brittle at the edges, fascia corners where gutters have overflowed, and original garage receptacles that now share a circuit with a second fridge. Whatever we find goes in a written list, and you decide how to handle it before installation.

How we mount the track

Screws hold the track beneath the soffit and up each gable rake, and the corners get a clean finish. The roof stays untouched, shingle or tile. The track color matches your soffit and each light sits about a quarter inch out.

Garage, controller and power

On the garage wall we mount the controller, a small box fed from an existing outlet, with low-voltage wire running up to the first light. Our electrician tests that receptacle and its breaker, sizes up what else the circuit already carries, and confirms GFCI protection. We also check Wi-Fi where the box will hang, since app control depends on a steady signal.

Light that suits the house

Stucco, brick and painted siding each want a slightly different white. Presets span a warm 2700K to a crisp 5000K, so we tune the everyday look to your walls. On spacing, 9 inches is the common pick for a classic holiday look, 6 inches makes the brightest line, and 16 inches reads as accent dots.

All year, not just December

  1. Every evening: warm white from sunset, dimmed late at night.
  2. Fall Saturdays and Sundays: your team’s colors.
  3. Halloween: a ghostly green, then orange.
  4. December: permanent Christmas lights, whether classic multicolor, a candy-cane chase or an icy white twinkle.
  5. Spring: pastels for Easter.
  6. July: red, white and blue.

Each permanent holiday light scene stays saved, and the calendar brings it back next year.

Back yards and two zones

Spend your evenings on a lanai or by the pool? Soft light across the back eaves earns its keep there. Add two zones, an optional extra from KWLE, and the back holds warm white while the front puts on a holiday show.

Three Valrico scenarios

The 1997 one-story with a screened lanai. Light along the front eave and the garage gable, plus the rear eave over the lanai on a second zone. The back runs warm white most nights, and the front handles holidays.

The 2006 two-story near the street. We’d suggest 6-inch spacing on the upper eave so it reads as a continuous line from the sidewalk, with the lower eaves following at the same spacing for a consistent look.

The older home with a newer addition. Here, the trim and soffit may differ between the original house and the addition. We plan the runs so the transition is clean and the track color still matches each section.

These are examples, not packages. Your design comes from your house.

HOA rules

If your subdivision has an association, read its exterior lighting and holiday rules before you install. JellyFish’s own HOA guidance highlights its slim quarter-inch profile, output of 21 lumens or lower, and a 2700K accent preset. We’ll assemble a submission packet for you.

For the review board, we assemble:

  • The official JellyFish fact sheet
  • Our soffit-matched track color choice
  • A marked-up house photo tracing the planned light line
  • Garage placement of the controller plus its existing receptacle
  • State license number EC13014717

Committees decide; a full packet keeps the review short.

Storms

For Milton in 2024, Weather Service totals put most of the county at 10 to 15 inches of rain and the southeast at 5 to 10. With the lights tucked under the eave and the controller inside the garage, you have nothing to take down.

What the first night looks like

When the install is finished, we don’t just flip a switch and go. We stay through a test of every run, checking spacing, color consistency and the corners. Then we sit down with whoever will use the app. We’ll show you how to pick a scene, dim the lights, set a sunset schedule and add a date to the calendar. Before we leave, your first few presets are already saved, such as a warm-white everyday look, your team colors and a Christmas scene. Ask us anything you’re unsure about, and keep our number handy for later questions.

Warranty details

Coverage comes in two parts. JellyFish backs the track, lights and controller for 5 years of parts, and KWLE backs the labor: 2 years, or 5 with Member Care.

Permits

Valrico is unincorporated. Should the project call for a permit, it comes from the county, and we apply for it ourselves.

How it goes

Step one is a no-cost visit: measuring tape, outlet tester, Wi-Fi check. Step two is a proposal you can read at your own pace. Our licensed team installs, and we never subcontract. We finish with the app setup and your first scenes.

Bring any question to the free on-site measure. JellyFish never comes down in spring; after New Year’s the house just shifts to a quieter scene. We’ll walk the lot with you and point out which eave runs are worth lighting.

There is plenty of house to light here: the Census Bureau’s 2020–2024 estimates give a median of 6.7 rooms, and 40.6% of homes have four bedrooms. The sequence is mockup, measuring visit, install day and an app lesson; after that the annual ladder trip is a few taps, and the same lights carry Christmas, the Fourth and game nights.

Why choose a permanent system over a yearly hang-and-remove crew?

A hang-and-remove crew puts strings up before the holidays, takes them down after, and repeats both visits next season. JellyFish goes in a single time along a Valrico home’s eaves and gable rakes, stays put, and changes scenes from your phone for Christmas, a blue-and-white Hanukkah look, other holidays and everyday white. For one December, hanging makes sense. For lights every year with no ladder, permanent wins.

JellyFish Lighting is a trademark owned by its maker. We are an independent authorized dealer, separate from that company.
