Level 2 home and light-commercial charging across Apollo Beach: two-car garages in newer villages inland from US 41, canal-front driveways and carports closer to Tampa Bay, condo and villa parking where the board will allow it, and staff parking for shops along Big Bend Road. A charger install starts with a load calculation on a TECO service, the right mounting spot, and a Hillsborough County permit through HillsGovHub. We’re based in Seminole about 25 miles away and schedule Apollo Beach EV work as planned installs, not as a same-day response promise. Licensed (EC#13014717).

How Apollo Beach homes are set up for charging
Apollo Beach has about 33,400 residents, and the median home was built in 2010 (Census ACS 2020–2024). The housing mix shapes every charger quote:
- 2000s–2020s villages with an attached garage and a panel that’s usually close by — the simplest installs we do here
- Canal-front and bay-side homes where parking may be a carport or driveway, outdoor runs need weather-rated gear, and flood-zone rules can affect where equipment mounts
- Condos, villas and townhomes where the meter bank and parking are association-controlled
- Shops and offices along Big Bend and US 41 that want a Level 2 charger for staff or fleet vehicles
Commuters headed toward I-75, downtown Tampa or the Selmon rarely need the biggest charger on the shelf. Most do fine on a 32- or 40-amp circuit, charging overnight.
Load calculation before the charger
Apollo Beach is TECO territory. Before we recommend a charger we do a load calculation, then size the circuit to how you drive.
If the numbers are tight, we look at load management first. Many good chargers can be capped or scheduled for overnight. A SPAN smart panel in Apollo Beach with SPAN PowerUp™ can slow or pause charging so the home stays inside its service rating, which can sometimes avoid a utility service upgrade.^ We’re a SPAN Authorized Installer with 20 SPAN installs. When an upgrade really is the answer, an Apollo Beach panel upgrade or an Apollo Beach service upgrade goes on its own line of the quote, and TECO coordination is part of that line — not a surprise later.
Hardwired charger or a 14-50 outlet?
- Hardwired wall charger: our usual recommendation in a garage or carport. It looks cleaner, can run at a higher rate and leaves no exposed outlet.
- NEMA 14-50 receptacle: an option if a mobile charger already rides in your trunk. EV receptacles need GFCI protection under the code, and a hardwired unit can usually be set to a higher charging rate on a comparable circuit.
Outdoor carport and driveway installs get a weather-rated charger and weatherproof fittings — especially important on canal and bayfront lots exposed to salt air and wind-driven rain. Any listed charger (UL, ETL or similar) works, including the Tesla Wall Connector. Tell us your car and we’ll suggest a charger that fits it and the circuit.
Condos, villas and Florida condo law
If you own a condo unit in an Apollo Beach association, Section 718.113(8), Florida Statutes says the association can’t prohibit an EV charging station in your limited common element or exclusively designated parking space, though it can set reasonable conditions such as a licensed contractor, a permit, separate metering and responsibility for costs. We prepare the drawings and equipment details your board or property manager asks for.
Permits, TECO and coastal notes
Apollo Beach is unincorporated Hillsborough County, so every EV circuit is permitted through Hillsborough County Development Services via the HillsGovHub portal.
Utility: TECO (Tampa Electric). A simple branch-circuit install usually doesn’t need a utility disconnect; a panel or service upgrade that comes with the charger does, and we schedule that with TECO when it does.
Flood zones: on canal and low-lying streets we confirm FEMA flood-zone status and any mounting-height expectations before we quote outdoor equipment.
Distance and how we schedule
Our shop is at 6248 Seminole Blvd, Seminole, FL 33772, about 25 miles from central Apollo Beach. That is outside our ~15-mile emergency and small-job response area, so Apollo Beach is Tier 3: planned, high-ticket work only. We schedule EV installs as planned work: photos or a call, site visit and load calc, itemized quote, permit, then install day. We do not promise a response time from Pinellas. Office 7 AM–5 PM, weekend service available; emergency calls are answered 24/7 separately via our emergency electrician service.
How an install works
- Start with photos or a call: which cars you drive, where you park, the panel with the door open, and any HOA or board requirements you already know about.
- Site visit and load calculation.
- Itemized quote after the site visit. Every part of the job on its own line. No prices over the phone.
- Hillsborough County permit, filed by us, plus any board or HOA package.
- Install day. Plan on a few hours when the parking spot is close to the panel. A long run, a new subpanel or outdoor weatherproofing adds time, and we tell you how much up front.
- Inspection, then setup. When the inspector signs off, we match the charger’s setting to its breaker and show you how to schedule charging.
Warranty, financing and scheduling
- 3-year workmanship warranty, extended to 5 years for Member Care Plan members.
- Financing available through Acorn Finance, subject to credit approval. Check your options without affecting your credit score. Ask us and we’ll include the financing link with your itemized quote.
- Hours: office 7 AM–5 PM, weekend service, and 24/7 emergency calls.

Apollo Beach EV charger FAQ
How much does EV charger installation cost in Apollo Beach? It depends on your service and panel, the distance to where you park, condo or HOA requirements, Hillsborough County permitting, outdoor weatherproofing, and the charger. You get an itemized quote after a site visit.
Do I need a permit for a home EV charger in Apollo Beach? Yes, because it’s a new electrical circuit. Apollo Beach is unincorporated, so the permit goes to Hillsborough County Development Services through HillsGovHub. We apply and schedule the inspection.
My canal home has outdoor parking. Can you still install a charger? Yes, with a weather-rated charger and fittings. We also check flood-zone and mounting-height expectations before we quote.
Can our condo association refuse a charger? Not outright. Florida’s condo statute, Section 718.113(8), protects a unit owner’s right to install one in a limited common element or assigned space, while letting the board require reasonable conditions such as a licensed contractor, a permit and separate metering.
Do you also install chargers in Riverview? Yes — see EV chargers in Riverview.
Is there still a federal tax credit for home chargers? The federal credit for home charging equipment only applied to property placed in service by June 30, 2026, so new installs no longer qualify. Ask your tax advisor about anything else that may apply.
