Seminole and Largo are home turf. Our office sits on Seminole Blvd, and the waterfront homes on Lake Seminole and Boca Ciega Bay are a few minutes from the shop. That makes these the easiest SPAN installs for us to schedule, and the easiest for us to come back to if you have a question after the job.

Why SPAN fits Seminole and Largo homes with solar and batteries

Most battery installs in this area back up a short list of circuits picked once, on install day. For a 1970s ranch on Lake Seminole with a pool and one AC system, that usually means the fridge, some lights and a few outlets, and not much else. SPAN replaces that fixed list with control in the SPAN Home app. During an outage you can bring the AC on for a few hours in the afternoon, switch it off overnight, keep the pool off entirely and watch the estimated backup time update as you go.

SPAN also helps on normal days. You can see each circuit’s use next to your solar production, which makes it easier to time the pool pump and dishwasher for the sunny part of the day. If you’re adding an EV, SPAN can slow or pause charging to stay within your service rating, which in some homes avoids or delays a service upgrade.

SPAN works with your existing solar and battery in Seminole & Largo

SPAN works with a home’s existing solar and battery backup system when the battery is on SPAN’s compatibility list. Per SPAN’s product guide, Tesla Powerwall 3 and FranklinWH aPower work with every SPAN Panel model, and Powerwall 2, SolarEdge and Enphase IQ Battery 5P and 10T work with the SPAN Panel MAIN 32. SPAN says it extends battery life by 40% in an outage,* and its Backup Overload Protection (NEC 2023 Article 702.4) helps prevent brownouts and battery resets. We confirm your inverter, battery and gateway before we quote.

Don’t have solar or a battery yet? We can add solar, battery backup and energy monitoring through our licensed partner installers as one coordinated project. Our partners install the solar and battery equipment; we manage the project and handle the electrical work, including panel upgrades, SPAN and the interconnection wiring. Seminole and Largo homes, and their aging panels

The median home was built in 1979 in Seminole and 1978 in Largo, and many neighborhoods off Park Blvd, Seminole Blvd, 113th St and Walsingham Rd went up in the 1970s and early 80s. Original panels from that era are nearing the end of their life, and we still find Federal Pacific and Zinsco units that insurers flag during four-point inspections. Many of those panels are also full, so the solar backfeed breaker was squeezed in wherever there was room. A SPAN install clears that up and adds circuit control at the same time.

Waterfront homes on Boca Ciega Bay and in Harbor Bluffs on Clearwater Harbor bring salt-air corrosion on exterior panels and meter cans, plus dock and lift circuits. Golf-course homes in Bardmoor and around Seminole Lake Country Club tend to be larger, with pools and two AC systems. Every SPAN model is rated for indoor or outdoor installation, and larger homes may need more than one SPAN Panel.

Storms and outages close to home

Hurricane Helene’s surge in September 2024 flooded low-lying homes along Boca Ciega Bay and the Intracoastal, and Hurricane Milton’s winds two weeks later left much of mid-Pinellas without power for days. Homes with solar and batteries did well, but many owners found the battery couldn’t carry the AC through the night. SPAN lets you see estimated backup time and decide what stays on.

Being close also makes it easier to schedule a post-flood evaluation after a storm. Equipment that took on saltwater should be checked before it’s re-energized, and it usually needs replacing. In flood zones, replacement equipment may need to meet elevation rules, which we check before quoting.

Permits in Seminole, Largo and unincorporated areas

Inside Seminole city limits, electrical permits come from the City of Seminole Building Division at 9199 113th St N. Inside Largo city limits, they come from the City of Largo Building Services division at 201 Highland Ave. A lot of the area is unincorporated, including parts of Bay Pines, Bardmoor, Ridgecrest and the neighborhoods around Lake Seminole, and those addresses are permitted by Pinellas County Building & Development Review Services. Your mailing address doesn’t always tell you which applies, so we check.

We pull the permit, coordinate the Duke Energy disconnect and reconnect, and meet the inspector. If you’re in an HOA or a 55+ community, exterior equipment changes may need association approval; indoor panel replacements usually don’t.
