Oldsmar’s Milton total was among the bigger ones in Pinellas: 13.68 inches at the Oldsmar gauge listed in the National Hurricane Center’s report. The rain was only half the problem; the other half was waiting for power. We’re 16 miles south, on Seminole Blvd.

Oldsmar’s approval steps
Oldsmar reviews zoning, flood, public works and fire items before the building permit is issued. Homes inside the CRA or along the Tampa Road corridor also go through architectural review, which can matter for where an outdoor generator sits. Oldsmar’s storm permitting guide requires permits for flood-zone work other than removing wet materials, tarping and boarding, and its forms include a floodplain cost breakdown and disclosure. Our office assembles that paperwork.
Picking the right setup
An automatic standby unit may make sense if you want the whole house, or nearly all of it, covered without lifting a finger. If you’d rather keep a portable generator, we can add a safe connection: a breaker lockout plus a weatherproof plug-in box on the exterior wall.
Oldsmar’s 14,904 residents live in homes whose median year built is 1988 or earlier (2020–2024 ACS). We still look the panel over for wear and spare room first.
