Hillsborough County describes Progress Village, developed in the late 1950s just outside Tampa, as the county’s first low-income housing suburb, created in response to segregation. In 2026 the county began a historic resources survey here. Phase 1 ran in May and June, Phase 2 is expected in fall 2027, and staff photograph buildings only from public streets. Original homes and new ones
Plenty of the housing is recent: the median year built for the area’s 4,643 housing units is 2011. So the right generator hookup depends on the house. A newer home’s panel may already have open slots for the hookup. An original-era house may need panel work first.
