The rulebook
Per the town, building work answers to the state code, the Gulf Beaches coastal construction code, town ordinances and FEMA. Adding a panel protector counts as permitted electrical work; filing is on us.
Layered protection
Spikes from storms or grid switching can enter on the service line. A protector at the main breakers clamps them first; outlet units at computers add a layer.
Condo units
51.3% of the housing is in buildings of 20 or more units, where the device mounts on the owner’s box only.
Seventies-era boxes worn past repair get swapped, and the new one includes a suppressor.
