Christmas comes once a year, but birthdays, anniversaries, graduations and homecomings happen all year. With JellyFish permanent lights, your house can celebrate any of them: pink for a new baby girl, school colors the night of graduation, or a favorite color washing the walls when a child turns seven. Keywest Lights & Electric (KWLE) is a woman-owned Florida electrical contractor (EC13014717) at 6248 Seminole Blvd. We install the system once, and your family decides what it celebrates.

Occasions owners light up for
- Birthdays
- The birthday person’s favorite color, or a cheerful rainbow chase.
- New baby
- Soft pink, blue or any color you choose to welcome the baby home.
- Gender reveal
- Neutral white until the moment, then one tap to pink or blue.
- Graduation
- School colors from the ceremony through the party.
- Anniversary
- Warm white with a slow twinkle, or the colors from your wedding.
- Homecoming
- Red, white and blue, or a steady color to welcome someone back from deployment or a long trip.
- Awareness months
- Pink in October, or a color tied to a cause your family supports.
- Memorials
- A quiet, steady color on a date that matters to you.
The birthday playbook
- Save the scene ahead of time. Build it in the JellyFish app weeks before.
- Schedule it on the date. It turns on at sunset, even if you forget.
- Surprise them. Many parents start the scene just as the birthday child pulls into the driveway.
- Run it all week. Some families light the whole birthday week, with a bigger effect on the night of the party.
- Return to normal. The calendar switches back to your everyday look the next night.
Once a scene is saved, it repeats every year, so next year’s birthday is already taken care of.
A family calendar, not just holidays
| Example date | Scene |
|---|---|
| March 3 | Purple chase for a daughter’s birthday |
| May graduation week | School colors, steady |
| June 20 | Warm twinkle for an anniversary |
| August 14 | Green and gold for a son’s birthday |
| Thanksgiving to New Year’s | Permanent Christmas lights |
Personal dates sit right beside every permanent holiday light scene on the same calendar.
Parties at home
For a party, the house becomes part of the decorations. A few tips:
- Brighter scenes help guests find the house and the front door.
- Slower effects look better in photos than fast flashing.
- With the extra KWLE two-zone option, the back can run a party scene over the patio while the front stays a welcoming white.
- Set an off time that respects the neighbors once the party winds down.
Photos that come out well
The best time to photograph a lit house is just after sunset, when there’s still color in the sky. Shoot from across the street at the height of the eaves. Moderate brightness photographs better than full brightness, which can blow out on a phone camera. Solid colors and slow fades come out cleaner than fast chases.
Graduation season
High school and college graduations bunch up in May and June. If your graduate’s school colors are two strong colors, alternate them in blocks along the eaves. If one is white or silver, use a cool white for the light color so it reads crisply. Run the scene from the ceremony through the party weekend, then save it for reunions or homecoming games later.
Welcoming someone home
Few things say welcome home like a house lit up at the end of the drive. For a military homecoming, a long hospital stay or a college student back for break, set a scene for the arrival day and turn it on as the car comes around the corner. Because the app works from anywhere, a relative can switch it on for you even if you’re the one at the airport.
Quiet dates
Not every date calls for celebration. Some families mark the anniversary of a loss with a single, steady color on the eaves, a soft way to remember without saying anything. Steady colors at low brightness suit those nights better than effects.
Neighbors and HOA rules
Most personal celebrations last a night or a week, which most neighbors welcome. If your association limits colors, flashing or hours, stick to steady colors, set a reasonable off time and lower the brightness. We can provide a layout for approval before installation.
Spacing for personal scenes
Personal scenes often use two or three colors in blocks. Six-inch spacing makes each block look solid from the street, 9 inches is a good middle ground, and 16 inches gives a softer, dotted look. Whites run from 2700K to 5000K for anniversary and memorial scenes.
Summer birthdays on the beach
If your house faces a Gulf beach, summer celebrations fall during sea turtle nesting season, May 1 through October 31. The FWC asks owners to keep decorative lights visible from the beach off during that time. With two zones, the beach side stays dark while the street side celebrates.
How the lights are installed
The JellyFish track is fastened below the soffit along the eaves and follows the gable rakes. Nothing is mounted on the roof, and the roof covering isn’t penetrated. The controller sits on a garage wall, plugged into an existing outlet that we test first, with a low-voltage line to the eave. By day the system blends into the trim, so the surprise is saved for nighttime.
Sharing the fun safely
Kids love choosing the colors. If you give older children app access, set some house rules, such as no flashing scenes after 9 p.m. or only on their birthday week. You can remove access anytime.
Cost of running it
The lights are LEDs. The U.S. Department of Energy says LEDs use up to 90% less energy than incandescent bulbs, so a week of birthday colors costs very little to run.
Getting the system installed
Planning around a specific date, like a first birthday or a graduation party? Tell us at the first call. We’ll measure each eave and gable rake, test the garage outlet, prepare a photo preview and a written proposal, and book an installation date with your event in mind. Before we leave, we’ll help you save the first celebration scene.
Warranty
JellyFish’s 5-year parts warranty covers the hardware. KWLE’s 2-year workmanship warranty covers our installation, and a Member Care Plan extends it to five years.
Personal-event lighting FAQ
Can I use any color I want? Yes. JellyFish offers millions of colors, so you can match a jersey, a cake or a wedding palette.
Can the lights spell a name? The lights trace the house outline. They don’t display words.
Can I schedule a surprise while I’m away? Yes. Put it on the calendar, and it runs whether you’re home or not.
Can grandparents in another state turn on the birthday scene? Yes, if you share app access with them.
Does a celebration scene interfere with my regular schedule? No. A dated scene takes over for that night, then your everyday look returns the next evening.
Is KWLE woman-owned? Yes. We’re woman-owned and don’t claim any certification.
